the real question that always gets me scared is, where do you really go when you die?

from the thread here
http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=13430&page=2&pp=25

My answer: I believe in the whole Heaven/Hell/Purgatory thing. I think you catch a glimpse of behind the scenes, you'll meet a few of the bigwig angels or whatever, and then they shuffle you onto a traincar going south or an escalator to the top floor.

Re-incarnation? Maybe. That'd be pretty cool. But what, everytime you live a new life, you can't remember previous ones while you're living the new one? Because that's how it is for us here on Earth today. So I dunno about that whole theory. I'd much rather say "maybe", shrug, and wait for the people behind the curtain to fill me in after I've kicked it.

I don't really see any evidence that there is any soul that survives after death, so I think once you die your consciousness just blinks out of existence. You don't know you're dead because there is no more you to know anything, or care about the fact that you're dead. I hope I'm wrong and we go to some great place where I can hang out and be blissful all the time, but I just don't see that as very likely. And if the Christians are right, I'm going to hell anyways, so see y'all there if it exists!

yea, ill probably end up chillin there too if it exists. i believe that when we die, we kind of get to view our life from a different point of view, and watch ourselves kind of. i know it sounds wierd and it kind of is, but what ever.

When you die you go to purgatory and wait in line foreeeeeeeeeever. Heaven's probably backed up with the world being over populated and all. And you know what? You can't take anything with you when you die... so you'll be stuck with reading the old magazines they provide you. Bwahaha, life sucks when you die until you pass those pearly gates.

Man I really dont know, all I really know is that I dont know, and thats its pretty ignorant to say either way because the truth is, nobody really knows. I'm just gonna live my life the best I can and let the rest just flow. I find this a disturbing question and I find that I'm much happier when I dont think about. Just live your life man, thats why we're here.

Where do we go when we die?

Haven't the slightest clue. What I believe happens thou is some what close to Climbing High had to say. I'm a movie writer so most of the things I think about are movie related. What I would like to happen is this:

Scene starts out black

I open my eyes and a glowing Jesus passes a joint. I ask him "Are you glowing cause your Holy?" He replies "No stupid you just died and had your eyes closed for a while, just wait and your eyes will clear up." "Snap" I reply and hit the jamacan rolled spliff. Jesus grabs my arm and pulls me to my feet when I start to look around at everything and everyone. When they see Jesus standing next to me they all run up and start shacking my hand. I quickly pull the joint back thinking they are all trying to grab my shit. Jesus tells everyone to chill out cause they have a new life to watch and he has to breif me on the things people will be watching that evening. I turn to him and I say "My life?" Jesus shacks his head as I say. Jesus interups me and says "Yes, Michael everything." I reply with a quick "Holy Snap" Later that night after a good day (depending on the time I die) of chillin with Jesus and friends and family we all walk to the central park for the "Life Line" picture show. As we sit down the movie begins and I am born. 17 years later and a few (like a million) joints I finaly say "Ok stop rewinding the shower sense everyone know what I do there!" A roar of laughing comes over heaven and I run out of the park while sobing. The J man appears in front of me while running knocking me square on my ass. Jesus reaches out his hand and says "You know we were watching so why be embarrest, and just to let you know all you had to do was slide your wrist.... Ok never mind, just get up adn come back to the movie." I say "alright but if one more person screams cause they think it's a giant snake on the screen it's your fault." Jesus reply "Sure buddy more like a paper clip on the screen" We sit there for a second while the J man packs a dug out and we hit it while walking back to the park.

That was just the first 17 years of what I think could happen. My faith tells me I'm going to heaven but whats there and where is it I have no clue.

Faith, that is, a firm belief in something for which there is no proof, is not a good thing to base your beliefs about death on in my opinion. If there's nothing telling me that heaven exists but some millennia-old texts, then I don't think I should take that with any more seriousness than the idea that I will go to Hades.

So know that you've knocked me and my faith why don't you answer the question. Since this is a thread that has a question. Not a thread thats open for knocking each others beliefs. But thanks anyways for posting.

Ok, so you answered the question towards the top. I can only guess you dislike people of faith. Do you always try to be little people of faith or is this a new thing for ya?

Rev.

ermitonto

I don't dislike people of faith at all. I just dislike some of the unsupported ideas that religions try to spread. I don't try to belittle people, I just like to express my point of view about religion, but since I don't believe in religion, people always assume I'm trying to make fun of everybody who believes in religion.

You join some kind of collective consciousness of the all living things, past, present and future and your energy is recycled back into the Earth.

Chill people, no flaming or arguing. Some people believe in stupid stuff. Some people believe in odd stuff. Some people think those people are stupid, or odd, for believing those things. Get over it, it's fine. Let the people believe.

Meek Mike
That's some awesome dialogue, actually. Kevin Smith style.

SmokeyPotter
Interesting. Never really thought that idea through, myself. Hm...

02-28-2005, 05:23 AM
I'm a little touchy on the subject and when someone addresses something I say instead of what the thread is about I feel they are trying to belittle me and my beliefs. No one else said anything about faith but once I posted and said according to my faith or how ever I said it you chime in and said something like faith isn't a good thing for people to base there beliefs about death on. Anyways it sound slike picking or belittling my comment and opinion.

What, I can't comment on your comment? I'm not trying to pick on your opinion, I'm just explaining why I disagree. I don't see why people can't just have a civilized debate about these sorts of things without feeling all offended that someone else feels differently. You believe what you want to believe, whatever makes you the happiest, and I'll believe what I want to believe. To each his own.

That is an interesting idea. The Bible does ay we are all part of the same body. So that could be true.

You cxan't be sure either way. NO ONE understands ANYTHING. Realize this and you will start to understand.

You must realize that for all you really know, you could be lying in a bed in some asylum and this is just one of your every day delusions.

that being said... on to the point.

Time, size, space, and energy go on forever. Energy always has been and always will be. Space is nothingness, therefore there is no measurability. Size goes forever. Something forms into the electron, proton, and neutron, those form the atoms, forming molecules, forming the planets and us.

now here's a crazy thought. planets and stars form galaxies, forming the universe, which could just be a huge molecule. Planets are atoms, we are electrons. Atoms are planets and electrons are people. We could very possibly and plausibly be made up of billions of tiny universes.

we don't know. That's the point, and at the same time, it's not the point. A point that doesn't even exist, like that of a needle... for at the sharpest point of a needle and at the roundest part of the circle, it is flat.

And now to REINCARNATION... energy never ceases to exist. it cant grow or decrease. We are energy, so when we die, we slowly deteriorate into billions of little energy particles and those go on to make up other things.
a little peice of us goes into many things, so in a way, we are reincarnated.

in my opinon u asked the wrong question cause the simple answer would be know one knows do they.......or maybe they are right but there is nothing to say you are right or wrong untill you know yourself or dont know in somecases...
I would of asked what do you think happens to you when you die?

http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=9000

i dont know what happens to you when you die...i dont know what i think either
my only sugesstion is be good to everyone and live your life to the fullest...whats the worst that can happen if you are good? Inexistance?....thats not to bad cause once it happens youll never know.....just spark up, relax and enjoy life while you got it.

ok, first off, i dont give a shit. theres no way i can know, so im just going to go with the flow. that would be awesome if there was a good place for me to chill with all my old buds anf shit after this life, but personally, i dont think there is. just pretend the bibile was 100% correct. their is so much shit in there like "homosexuals go to hell" shit like that. if god is like that.....fuck him. i dont want to go anywhere with people like that. not just the homosexual thing, but other "morals" of different cultures that have been added into the mix over the yrs. most people of strong faith i dilike, bc they feel they have the right to judge others, based on their beliefs. FUCK YOU PEOPLE. not everyone of faith is like that though, those people are cool. southern baptists for the most part are fuckers. i dont ned a bible to decipher right and wrong, so im just going to do what i feel is right most of the time, bc im human right.....and just see what happens.

hey, 4252 is the 42 in your name a reference to the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy?

03-01-2005, 12:18 AM
Well, yes and no. Mostly yes. I originally used the number 4252 because it was the # of a sailboat I had, but as soon as I discovered Douglas Adams, I started to read everything he wrote, the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy 5 book "trilogy" being my favorite. When I joined this forum, I shortened 4252 to 42, but realized right away it was also the number from the book; Deep Thoughts' answer to the question about life, the universe, and everything. So it seemed to fit.

I hear they're making a movie based on the first book. Know anything about it?

I don't know too much about the movie, but I saw the tv show that was made in the 80's. It was on the BBC and it was horriable! It totaly killed my imangination of the book. That is the greatest trilogy in the world. I'm contomplating going to see the movie though. I don't want the book to be ruined anymore. But with more resent computer graphics, they can depicted the book better than they could in the 80's. Also because it's a feature film it will have a greater budgit. What I'm hoping is that they don't try to fit all five books into one film. Here's a link to a website that has a lot of info on it.

apparently its called the alpha plane and it has many levels depending on how youv lived your life. Anyway i dont belive there is anything after death but the only consolation i have to nothingness is that everyone will share the same fate as me
