I'm looking for any advice from more experienced growers. From what I hear this is the best way to get big yields with limited lighting. I have 1000w switchable ballast and a 4x4 tray with 16 hindu skunk plants. I run a dehumidifier and 2 oscillating fans 24 hours a day. I have an AC unit that I run as needed. I have an air cooled hood with air coming in from and venting back out to the next room. The CO2 is set to a slow leak during lights on and is distributied with one of the oscillating fans. If anybody can see any problems or has any suggested improvements I would be very appeciative of your input. I also have a few other questions that I hope some of you gurus could weigh in on. Thanks in advance for the help I'll try to get some pics on here later. I just started flowering 3 days ago.

What is the ideal temp when running CO2? I've heard that you can safely go hotter but for max yields you want about 75-78. Is this true? How about during lights out? Is it worth running my AC during lights out if the temp is about 75 as is? When I don't it seems like it gets stuffy in there.

How much nutes should I use? I've heard you can use more with CO2. I'm using supernatural nutes and liquid karma. The instructions say to use 1000 ppm. Should I do more? If so, how much and how do I know if I overdid it? Do I need to flush for longer if I use more nutes?

Should I try to run in fresh air when the lights go out and the CO2 goes off? Or should I keep the room sealed at all times? A friend of mine was concerned that the plants would not get the 02 they need during lights out. I had a fan bringing in fresh air through the window but took it down and closed the window to avoid wasting CO2. My friend thinks this was a mistake. I've read that one of the big advantages to having a sealed room is not allowing anything dangerous to come in with the fresh air like mites.

Do I need a carbon filter? If I get one I'd have to buy another inline fan as well so would rather not but I will if the smell is too noticable or if the benefits are worth it. From those of you who have done this before: How contained is the smell in a sealed room with 1000w? What benefits will I see from scrubbing the recirculated air?

Thanks again for the help guys:jointsmile:

I hope I didn't ask too many questions. I really appreciate any advice at all. I'm figuring this all out as I go. :D

Really though, I could use some help. Somebody must have an answer to at least one of those questions.

Earthy Dank

What is the ideal temp when running CO2? I've heard that you can safely go hotter but for max yields you want about 75-78. Is this true? How about during lights out? Is it worth running my AC during lights out if the temp is about 75 as is? When I don't it seems like it gets stuffy in there. The temps should drop about 5-10 degrees at night...Don't run CO2 at night.. plants dont need it.

How much nutes should I use? I've heard you can use more with CO2. I'm using supernatural nutes and liquid karma. The instructions say to use 1000 ppm. Should I do more? If so, how much and how do I know if I overdid it? Do I need to flush for longer if I use more nutes? The amount of nutrients needed is relative to the plants nutrient uptake... so little seedlings may not even need 200ppm where as big flowering Beasts can require upto 1800-2000ppm. So if you plants are about 6" or taller start them out at slightly below the bottles recomendations... so say 800ppm. Liquid Karma is a great foliar spray if you can spray them while its still dark. I notice it the best if I spray them right before the light comes on. I like to think of it as a cup of coffee before they have to goto work.

Should I try to run in fresh air when the lights go out and the CO2 goes off? Or should Ikeep the room sealed at all times? A friend of mine was concerned that the plants would not get the 02 they need during lights out. I've read that one of the big advantages to having a sealed room is not allowing anything dangerous to come in with the fresh air like mites. As long as you have proper ventilation, air circlation, temperature/humidity/Co2 you don't need fresh air... but i like it use it where ever i can.

Do I need a carbon filter? If I get one I'd have to buy another inline fan as well so would rather not but I will if the smell is too noticable or if the benefits are worth it. Depending on what and where you grow will affect the odor level. Is it somewhere where odor would be a big problem? You probably won't have to worry about smell untill the harvest... or if you move them around too much when they are flowered... after about a week of drying the bud it will lose most of its fresh smell. Scrubbing recirculated air doesn't seem necessary... those you might want to conside maybe upgrading ventilation/AirConditioning
