Can plants tell night from day?

Im growing in reverse manner-Lights on at night ,off during day.For temp. and co2 reasons.Anybody with experience on this?Considering moon cycle maybe?

i did it that way last year and didn't have any problems with plant confusion. i think they only 'know' light and dark. with light, they photosynthesize and without light they do not.
i'm no expert but it worked ok for me.

Not if you are sure your room is lightproof......it's not uncommon for folks to reverse the 12/12 lighting to help with cooling issues....especially during summer.

Electricity is cheaper at night and you don't need to run the a/c so aggressively.
Check for light leaks and enjoy the benefits of running lights on at night.

I totally get what you mean about the moon cycles. On overgrow there was someone that would regularly post threads to update people about the moon cycle - for best times to germinate, clone, etc. It's all that "farmers almanac" type stuff and you'll find that they'll all have conflicting times of when to do stuff with your plants. The moon's gravity has a definite impact on things here on Earth, but to what degree that it makes a difference how our plants are grown? I have no clue! The differences in growing a few plants in accordance with the moon cycles are probably miniscule, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Weedhound, your power supplier should have 'peak' and 'off-peak' rates listed on your bill somewhere, or on their website. Just like long distance service or cell phone minutes.

In the UK electricity is cheaper between 1800 hours and 0600 so I have always set my lights to come on at 1500 hours and go out at 0900 during the grow and then 1800 to 0600 for flowering.
The plants don't know any different.

I also get free telephone calls between the same hours so if I want to make a long call to a mate that's when I do it. :D
