You should find 2 phenos with this strain. One larger and fluffy(thought not airy) buds, and the other is smaller with tight buds. I like the second pheno best. AND it will knock your socks off. This strain has since been crossed with Blueberry (Blue Cheese) but I haven't checked it out yet.

I wish I knew how the name came about. You would think it would smell like cheese with that name. I believe it was Big Kahuna (spelling?), a UK seed merchant that claims he received it from a breeder with unknown parents. He said it wasn't much of a yielder, but after working with it yield has become commercially acceptable.

I read something about where the name cheese came from a couple months ago It was something to do with it originally coming from a "G" strain (maybe a relative of the famous G13) but the english accent made it sound like "cheese" when they said "it's one of those G's" so it just kinda morphed and became known as cheese!

BTW I'm not saying this is fact, it's just what i've read. It sounds plausable tho.

Go through Dr chronic. Make sure you choose American currency at the top left before you purchase them. It should take a day to process the order, then it will be sent out.. I get mine in about 5 days after that. Good luck.

I'm pretty sure its an old skunk variety crossed with an afghani male. Higher yeilds are possible and the high is very long lasting. Go to bigbuddhaseeds.com and read the history, about the daddy, and facts..

The Cheese is a very special Skunk No. 1 phenotype that was grown in the UK in 1998/99 by the Exodus group.

It was noticed at the time that one of the Skunk No. 1 plants that they had was something that had to be preserved because of its amazing qualities - an old School taste, unique to the cannabis world, when you smell the Cheese you will be drawn in by an array of fruity, musky, hash /skunk undertones people who tasted the Cheese will always remember the smell exceptionally odorous.

The Big Buddha has since crossed this clone with an Afghani pure-bred traditional landrace strain to produce a strain that takes 8 â?? 10 weeks to flower and is consistently a much better yielder than the original Cheese, and flavour and taste is well preserved. Appealing fruity fresh smell, uplifting effect, highly pungent hence its name!

Exodus are/were a movement of like minded people who are into drugs and music. Big raves were a common thing in LUTON, BEDFORDSHIRE, UK held illegally in abandoned buildings and fields during the summer months. This is were Cheese derived from, not Sheffield as another member stated!!! I've posted about cheese in the past and it's not to be taken lightly, its by far the BEST green that has ever past my lips, i just cant fault it!!

Peace

hey glad to see this thread, ive been growing cheese for a few rounds up here and love it, not much for yeild, got 1.5 or so ounce from my originals from seed, last couple i got about 2 ounces out of 2 smallish girls, my next one looks to be 1.5-2 i hope. so not much for yeilds but its not one you need to worry about labeling, the smell is very unique. i like to grow one or 2 for my "cheese stash" its great stuff. they clone real good, tend to need support towards the end, mine always tend to tip over, lean and just chill growing sideways, so i usually support em a bit after im tired of letting them ghetto lean. if you are growing for you, its a great strain, but if its to let go, maybe make a few, then its not ideal, in my experience. id like to see cheese crossed with a big yeilder, and soon i will, im working towards crossin it with thc bomb, and big bud to see if i can just maybe get a good balance. big bud seems decent, but not spectacular, hopefully a high yeilding cheese will find its way into my lil ecosystem. smell isnt cheese though, sweet/skunky.. mmmm. unique, but familiar, im stoned sorry.

I've been doing the cheese for about a year and a half. Outstanding stuff, unfortunately I've experienced some problems lately with them. Been busting my ass to figure out the problem with no luck. And I always think I screwed up, but I discovered my moms are sick. Some kind of a disease. Bummer, I wasn't prepared for this disaster. I had some old hermie seeds from a couple years ago and I thought I'd get by with those until I got new seeds but only a couple are viable. Ordered new seeds from Dr. Chronic and I'll start over. Trying Bluecheese also next time.

almost spot on there buddymyfriend,
the uk cheese was originally grown by an unknown grower, who then passed it on to exodus, and they have been passing it around in clone form ever since. i received 5 uk cheese cuts myself a couple of weeks ago, all rooted up now and 2 will be going into flower in a couple of weeks when i have room in the flower room.

sorry to be a dick but if what your growing doesn't finish with a feety parmesean cheese smell then its not cheese, its probably skunk#1 which is what the original uk cheese cutting is from.
I go to clinic in LA that sells " uks finest cheese" and if you had a pothead any pothead that has never seen cheese before and had them close their eyes and you said smell this... What do you think it is? Not 1 person would say bud!
It in no way has a classic cannabis smell, it smells like straight up cheese!
Greenhouse seeds, big budda seeds, ( both ate same strain) and homegrown fantaseeds all have the "cheese" and while you can get very cheesey phenotypes that do smell like cheese from what I've heard the majority of the phenotypes are more just skunk #1 or kush which is what big budda used in the cross to make seeds and then he sent the strain to GH to feminize them.
I'm growing the GH version and I have 10 plants in veg but the stem on 1 of them already smells cheesey so I've got high hopes.
but if your bud is good bud thats all that matters.

I'm interested in growing a variety of Cheese myself. I was curious how difficult of a plant this is to grow. (I'm a complete n00b) Just looking to do a few plants in a stealthy cabinet (250w HPS with carbon filter).

yes very easy, the uk cheese is basically a skunk#1 phenotype, the big buddha cheese, and greenhouse cheese are both the uk cheese pollenated by an afghani father.
skunks are basically some of the easiest strains for beginners to start with.

Thank you, very pleased to hear that.

I am to take it that this is a particularly stinky strain? I will have carbon filtering but I want to be prepared, of course. (rather not have the neighbours smelling my 'cheese')

as long as your carbon filter is matched to the power of your extractor, it will cope with all smells without a problem.
