View Full Version : Loss of leaf color

The large fan leaves are losing their color too soon. I'm guessing there are underfed. For this cycle I'm trying a new nute regimen. Using DutchMaster Gold with MAX. I've heard very, verry good things about this nute and I'm now at 6 weeks flower (8 week strain) and it appears they were right--yield looks larger than any before. But, I may need to change amount I feed them. The symptoms first appear on middle rows of plants(highest intensity light) and then to the perimeter on the side the light is facing. Several plants are normal and have retained their color (these are from the perimeter) but most have started bleaching out in 4th week. Also, a few of the bleached ones have fan leaves curling inward from the edges (light too intense?). Soooo, what do you think?

That curl is a hot spot. Consider rearranging your plants every so often so that the tall ones are always at the perimeter of the room.
Heat increases metabolism rate. It stands to reason that bleaching, and even ripening to a small extent, speed up in a hotter area. If you aren't running air-cooled lights, that's something to look into.

You're one of the people who I think is ready for CO2... :D
Increase your pot size slightly or add a re-pot when stretch is finished. Watering rate will have to increase. Inject CO2 during lights on. You can be more aggressive with temps and feeding this way. Yield will be significantly higher when you get it dialled in.

Here's where it gets interesting. I don't know how it could be temp related since I control the environment pretty well. It seems like too much light (they are air cooled) and are 24" above camopy. I've never heard of too much light, though I have 2 1000hps about 3' apart over 4' x 7.5' table --aprox. 70wpsf. I wonder if it is the strain. (CHEESE). When I grew some sensi skunk with it a couple grows ago the skunk did not bleach out. Yes I have CO2 system but not running right now. I was hoping to get this sorted out first. I was thinking the curling edges could be a response to too much light, though it is classic heat symptom. I wonder though as I don't let temps reach over 85 at canopy and sometimes cooler. I hate not knowing the answer, but what can I say--I'm just not talented enough to figure it out.

With those temps, you'd have to have a hot spot right under the light, or very low %RH under the light for edge curl. The bleaching may then be feeding related. Cheese is a one-off rare Sensi Skunk 1 pheno- it should perform similarly to your other skunks. I believe skunks feed rather heavily. I hope a skunk connoisseur chimes in on this one.

Regretfully I don't. Actually I bought the wife a new dig. camera for xmas. I've considered it but not yet ready to post pics (scared?) or more likely I'd have to learn how to load to computer. One of these days I will. Thanks Stinky. I considered low humidity and shut off fan that blows over canopy around 3rd week (could have been too late) thinking they might be drying out from constant breeze. I hoping it's a combination of needing more nutes(bleaching from veins first) and since I''m using SunSystem II reflectors they kind of focus to a narrow area. I'm planning on buying new reflectors(something larger) hoping it will spread the light more evenly. I've heard it's a skunk but it's much, much stronger than any skunk I've smoked. I think the yield can continue to improve when I get it dialed in. Usually I go for a combo of strength and yield, but this stuff has me hooked. After over a year with it I still get cooked within a couple minutes every time. I should admit that I've been smoking for 38 years and I don't stone easily.
