Ok, So now it's going to be reclassified back up to a Class B drug From a Class C.
This, In my oppinion is Pathetic, how can you compare Cannabis to drugs such as Cocaine & amphetamines, it's simply beyond me ...
This will also make it harder to pick up, for the obvious reason's of higher penalties for possession, Which will go up to 5 Years for a personal use amount!

So just to clarify, if i was caught in possession of say a teenth. I would be prosecuted and sent down for five years for even having such a small amount as that?

According to the webiste below, cocaine is class A (not class B). Also, it says "up to 5 years" for possession of a class B drug. I am in law school in the US, not the UK, and at least here you can normally plead down on your first offense... and even if you don't plead down, you rarely will get the maximum sentence unless you are a repeat offender. The only way to know for sure what kind of sentences are given to first time offenders for class B possession is to talk to a lawyer who knows from experience.
That being said, I think it is absolutely ridiculous to increase the punishment for cannabis. If anything changes it should be decreased because it is so much less harmful then alcohol. The date rape drug is class C in the UK... how can it actually be said cannabis is more dangerous then that!
There must be an awful lot of idiots in the world. That's all I know.

It's no big deal, don't get stressed about it.
I got caught years ago when it was class b and just got a caution, first offence, small personal amount. Nobody's gonna get 5 years for a teenth. Prisons are overcrowded enuff without filling them up with a couple million stoners.

Sorry, you're right, Cocaine is Class A Not B, But either way, I'm quite gutted about it being reclassified.

Its the premise that's wrong. I don't really care about the penalties, they aren't that much worse than before. But its the fact that they actually have the balls to upgrade its status, its fucking disgusting.
I have given up hope. As soon as the generation in power retires and leaves for good, and the younger, more open minded generations get in, then we have a chance of legalisation.
I wonder if they had a referendum on legalisation, what the percentages would be. I think a lot more young people would vote. I think to be honest, it would be very close. Probably 55/45 to either side.

Hasn't come into effect yet but this is just governing by propaganda. Brown intentionally ignored the evidence, he's a major muppet. I can't wait to move to the dam.
