So far only my sister and one of my older cousins know. My sister because I tell her everything and my cousin because she smokes too.

Once I'm in college I'm going to tell my mom and tell her it's really not all that bad for you and see how that goes.

But anyway how about you guys? Who knows and why?

i can tell no one... it sucks soo bad. Honesty is the best policy in my household too unless it's something they don't approve of like getting your ears pierced, getting tattoos, or SMOKING WEED! I'm 20 years old and a college student but because i still live at home in the summers and they help me out with college i have to be completely silent. I try to stand up for the injustice of the war on drugs when i can especially that on marijuana and make my feelings known about state's rights but even then my mom contests that marijuana is a drug that will lead to worse drugs. She's a school teacher, so the feds and the state have fed her plenty of bullshit to tell the little children over the years :( But i never smoke in the house or disrespect them by using it... it just sucks that they can't understand that i'm an adult and will make decisions for myself. Oh, and I actually had a cousin that said he'd physically "whoop my ass" if i was smokin "dope"...HA HOPELESS... but keep tokin :jointsmile:

My father and only brother know, and my cousins who are my age (about 30). My dad doesn't smoke himself, but he's a supporter of MMJ legislation, and understands that some of us benefit greatly from access to cannabis. After all, he was married for almost 20 years to my mother, who also suffers from severe anxiety, and was never successful, even to this day, in treating it with conventional medications. He knows that I could end up the same way- stressed out and unhappy with my career and life as a result. He respects my decision to stick with weed, after going through therapy and the fun 'let's see if this works' approach that is often taken in prescribing commercial pharmaceuticals. This is just so much simpler, cheaper, and more effective, and after a while, I started feeling that there was a certain indignity involved in biweekly trips to The Couch when I really feel there's nothing 'wrong' with me, per se, other than anxiety, insomnia, and occasional panic attacks. My shrink, grudgingly, agrees. lol!

In our immediate and extended family our use is commonly known (with those younger than 50).. We've chosen to be honest with the teenagers in regard to both use and growing. My daughter has started calling me "Bill Nye, The Illegal Science Guy!" in reference to my botanical experiments. As far as my mother (and the older family members) we're taking the path of respect and just don't talk about it, though if asked I'd be honest. Funny how taboo some folks still think weed is but never think of excessive drinking being in the same vein.. This same group also doesn't seem to mind stories of Willie Nelson (75 last week!!) rolling down the road in his tour bus and a cloud of smoke!! So in their mind, it's not so bad unless it's someone close to them.

I'd love to hear how some of the others with older kids (> 14) handle communications on the subject..

I think that its good for your relationship to let them know about this part of your life... especially if you're successful. my mom was (still is) completely against drugs after seeing her brother get addicted to heroin (he's sober now btw). But she sees me being successful and I'm totally open with her. I smoke ganja, no apology needed. Honesty is so good, trust is key in any relationship.

I'm not worried about who knows and who doesn't... especially in family - its a demonized thing down here, so you're only gonna get looked down upon.

but there are a few alright people in my family that you can toke with.. My mom knows, I once left arround 8 grams of hash in my pocket and gave it to my mom for laundry.. once she got back, she had the shiny leathery block of hash in her hand..haha.. I was feeling very awkward and on top of that my mom comes and gives me the hash saying 'this is yours...'

I mean my step dad helped me move out of my apartment a couple months ago and when he got there he was just like "man....I miss the smell of college" lol. My mom found my stash like three times. alright, breaking news. My pops now knows i smoke. the sucky part is when he found out not only was i home, but i kinda knew it was going to happen. I had just put my bowl and weed under a sheet, cause i figured it was safe, and he was doing some laundry and decided to put my shirt in my room, so when he went in he said he could smell my bowl and looked under the sheet.

the real sucky part was that he took my bowl and my weed. And he used to smoke so he knows what it is to have a bowl or weed taken, much less both. The good thing was he wasnt mad though, and he said he may give me my bowl back, it only matters so much cause it is made from real lava rock and 22k gold. the weed, i won't take back, ill let him have it, he made it clear he smokes every so often and that it is expensive for adults sometimes, so ill only smoke it if he were to want to smoke it with me, which would be really weird. but now both parents know. haha.

They occasionally warn me of the "dangers" of smoking...but aside from that it doens't come up too much. I've gotten into a decent amount of trouble with smoking weed and also doing harder drugs in the past, so I was always periodically drug tested from when I was like 14 until about was about 17 by my parents, my school [i went to a private school that was allowed with consent], and my p.o. So, pretty much everyone that I've been around knows about my past in drugs.

But know I think my family, mainly my parents, sisters, and brother, see that weed is a constant in my life and keeps me stable. And I appreciate their understanding, but I do it respectfully. I won't talk about it in front of them, bring dealers to their house, smoke in the house, etc.

It's kind of like they know it's going on but when it's out of sight, it's out of mind.

Everyone! Got caught at my dad's funeral (25 yrs ago) with my four brothers! Only time I can remember having so much fun with all of us together. Then we went to a new family picture. The photographer promised to photoshop (not available at that time) my red eyes. He didn't, but we all had them, except my cob up the ass sisters!

Seems a couple of them smoked with my dad! It was so much fun then, all we did was laugh. My mmj doesn't do that. I have got to change it up! I wonder if I could get that state of mind now, with all my pain! It'd be fun for a change. I laugh enough here, that is a great thing!

I never hide it, from family, just the out-laws, unless they are token! I prefer they gossip about that than the things they do. When I am in my home, I offer visitors some, if I need some mmj. I need my medicine and I don't care who knows, they can see the results and I believe it helps promote our cause. I did it for that purpose only and I didn't care why they did. I knew they were all shocked at how much better it made me feel and how much more I was able to do with it! :pimp: 4 pot.

the other day my mom walked in my room to tell me that my windows were down on my jeep and that it was about to rain, so I leaped out of my closet and smoke started pouring out of my mouth. First off, she knows I smoke, she just doesn't like me doing it in the house. That's why I was in the closet with a toilet paper tube stuffed with dryer sheets lol. The only thing she said after "are you smoking pot in your closet?" was "Why didn't you offer me any?" Any doubts I had about her being upset with me smoking are completely gone now lol. I don't see how my mom doesn't know. It's so insanely obvious yet she doesn't seem to have a clue. She has walked in on and my buddy smoking a fat blunt before. Yet she didn't even seem to notice a thing.

I think she thinks that if I was smoking I would be wigged out all the time and not able to function properly. So being that she probably thinks that, she probably thinks I'm not doing it. I've dropped hints and stuff, but haven't straight out told her.

I'm tempted to bring some over and smoke my dad up, so maybe I'll do that someday. He doesn't know, but I'd just like to see his reaction.

When I get my own place I'm sure I will eventually tell my mom. I really don't hide it from anyone. If they think I'm a bad person cause I smoke pot, then it just shows me how ignorant they really are. I'll try to show them the facts to cure their reefer madness, but if they are unwilling to listen, then that is their problem and not mine.

Oh, and I smoke with my sister all the time now. She never knew I smoked until we were driving home on a 200 mile trip. Her bf offered me some and I accepted. Ever since then, we have been much closer as siblings.

For the first two years after my mother found out, she would guilt the crap out of me. Trying to make me feel like I'm a bad person or something. Both my older brother's smoke, as well as my younger sister, it helps with her anxiety. Since then, my mom has come around and doesn't bother us about it anymore. I'm never high infront of her, but I do smoke every day.
