Hi, I'm not entirely sure if I'm posting this in the right place, but the last two time that I've smoked some weird stuff has happened to me. I've been smoking for years until now, and I'm not sure if I have to stop. The last two times that I have smoked I've become completely dehydrated, to the point where it's hard to talk and swallow, and I was stoned to the point that I could basically comprehend nothing that was going on. At first I thought it could have been laced, but my friends were smoking the same stuff and I had the least, so this is extremely weird to me. The first bad trip I had I vomited which was extremely unpleasant because there was absolutely no liquid in it because of how dehydrated I was.

The weirdest part was that the first time this happened (which was the worst) I had only smoked 3 bowls, and the 2nd time I only smoked 1. Is it possible that I have developed an allergy to it or something? This never used to happen before and I'd really like to know what's causing it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Were you by any chance possibly dehydrated before you smoked? And were you also perhaps drinking alcohol at the same time?

Smoking anything will dry you out, and smoked weed certainly is a desiccant. You have a vaso-constriction response after those first inhalations, which shrinks back the capillaries and also dries out your mucus membranes and saliva glands. That's why the age-old problem of cotton-mouth happens. Well, that plus the fact that you're inhaling combustible, heated smoke and particulate and then blowing it out, which saps your mouth and respiratory system of fluid very effectively.

Dehydration on its own, whether you'd enhanced it with extra perspiration, alcohol--which also dehydrates you, or just too much smoking of an especially drying strain, can cause nausea. That's a very common response to being too dry. Believe it or not, nausea and vomiting is a fairly common response to smoked weed, too. It acts on the receptors that talk to the brain's nausea/vomiting center, and while most of the time that causes nausea to be suppressed, which is why it's so helpful to cancer/chemo patients, in a smaller percentage of people, it has just the opposite effect and triggers nausea.

Before you smoke the next time, try this. Tank up on water in a big way. Drink so much of it that your urine is clear. Don't combine your smoking with alcohol use or super hot weather (or sitting in a hot tub). Then smoke and see if you still have the dehydration and/or nausea. It sounds like part of your problem may also be that you're worrying a lot about this, and anxiety will dry you out, too!

Thanks for the response

i was not drinking at the time, so it was just the weed that was drying me out. Typically when i smoked before i would get cotton mouth, but this is on a whole different level. I've always been effected differently than my friends when i smoked, but never this badly. I just don't understand how I became so extremely stoned off such little weed, my friends were smoking the same stuff and they claimed it wasn't significantly stronger than normal.

To what you were saying about how it typically reduces nausea, this is the reason I smoke on many occasions. A lot of the time when I've drank a bit too much I take a few hits and it settles my stomach, so I don't think I'm one of the people that it actually works in reverse, unless it's possible for that trait to change.

I've been getting that too lately! I'll have to drink some water bottles beforehand.

Thanks!
