No, you're friend is doing something seriously wrong. Cannabis is a pretty tough plant and it takes a lot to kill one. How are you losing them? Whats happening? If you post up some pics someone can probably tell you what the problem is.

thought so, well basically, i put my trust in a friend, 25 seeds, 20 came threw, mate had to go away for a few days so oviously didnt get watered, and lost 8, and with in the next few weeks, he had lost 4 more, he is growing it in a shed in his back garden, no lighting just the sun, and water.
how many plants should you get out of 20?
i havnt got any pictures as he is very quite about growing them and doesnt really tell us alot about them to be honest, he just said let him get on with it and then when there done he'll bring us the batch.
so i hope you could be of help, thankyou x

I don't know what help I can be. All i can tell you is I can't ever remember having a plant die on me. Not that i'm an experieced grower, but i've had a few grows, not with great yields but a plant has never died. I'm not saying a half decent grower would never lose a plant, i'm sure even experienced growers lose plants but they're probably dealing with a lot more plants and more complex systems that may suffer from mechanical failure. You should read through the growing faq, skinky attics noob guide to growing dankness and maybe some growlogs to get an understanding of what growing is about.

You should get 20 healthy plants from 20 germinated seeds.
Each plant must get at MINIMUM 6 hours of DIRECT sunlight per day plus indirect light to bring it to a total photoperiod of at least 18 hours of light and 6 hours of dark. With a solid-sided shed, and no supplemental lighting, I don't know how that is happening.
Furthermore, you need temperature control and ventilation, neither of which you have mentioned. How hot is it in the day, and how cold at night? Where does fresh air come from? Is your soil correct? Is it fresh soil? Have you fertilized your plants before 5 nodes?
REad the sticky in my signature and if you are doing things significantly different, we will try to troubleshoot them and get you back on the right track.
