Hey guys, I have a Vapir Oxygen 2.0 Vaporizer. I have had it for around 6 months.

I clean the vape with the supplied brush after every bowl and use it as directed (~365F). I also cleaned out the bowl with a tiny bit of soap and water on the brush. I soaked the other parts in soap and water and cleaned them with a brush as well.

It seems like resin that I cannot clean out of the vape is causing this bad smell/taste. Are there any techniques/cleaning agents/other herbs that I can use to make the vape smell better? It isn't too bad, but just enough to notice it after every hit.

Thanks!

well, resin is soluble in alcohol, so you could possibly try to use alcohol as a solvent without damaging the vape

also, examine the whole vape; theres probably resin in at least 1 spot that you wouldnt expect it. I have a friend that had the same vape, and he still has the vape battery (vape broke :( ) and he said it was covered in resin

It sounds like you're doing enough cleaning. I prefer to call it 'residue'. It's not the smoked gunk that collects in bowls. It's condensed vapor, and it can be reused. I've used vapes that were in desperate need of residue cleaning and never had a "bad smell/taste" other than the overcooked taste of 'finished off' herb. Are your leftovers really dark? Getting the smell/taste at the end of the bowl maybe?

Smoked: Thanks! I didn't even think of using alcohol to clean it.

Vapefiend: Although it could be re-used, it smells horrible. Not burn weed smell, but bad enough.

My leftovers are brownish, and never too dark. With this new Kush strain I got the leftovers always have a bit of green left to them no matter how many hits I take.

The taste/smell is constant. Without the unit even turned on I can smell it. It isn't that strong, but noticable. I am just not getting the "clean" taste of the weed I was the first few months I had it.

Should I chalk this up to buying a relativly cheap vape, or is there something else that can be done?

Thanks so much for your guys help!

Something that caught my attention is that you say you are using soap. Soap, by its nature, sticks to things unless it is rinsed off very, very well. Are you sure that you haven't accidentally left a little bit of soap on some parts over time? I would stick to alcohol cleaning if I were you... or be sure that you can really rinse the soap of very, very well with extremely hot water.

The residue from vaping shouldn't smell bad. I mean, I don't think it smells "good"... but it shouldn't be a terribly offensive odor.

I can't believe I read the post and didn't comment on the soap. My mind must have been trying to multi-task :wtf:. Use alcohol - 70-90% rubbing alcohol. Never soap. Most commercial soaps are mostly animal fat and nasty chemicals.

try just contacting them straight up and see what they say. I had some issues with my oxygen and they were more than eager to help out and resolve the issue.

Hell, my friend got a new one after his got funked up

just out of curiosity, have you been using the mesh screens that came with the unit at all?
