Yep.. 6" cool tube. Depending on how well I can cool my 400 watt with these fans will determine on if I get a 1000 watt hps or a 600 watt hps :).

I'm hoping for the 1000 watt myself but everything in moderation as they say :)

These particular fans are pretty loud by my standards if anyone is interested.
I plugged one in last night and held it in my hands. Very audible whirr sound. I may have to get a rheostat of some sort for these.

I have a 470cfm that cools my 1kw just fine. Something to remember.....everything you put in there puts off its own heat. While more fans may cool your light....too many of them will simply heat up the room themselves....fyi

edit...yes, they are loud.

These are only 424 cfm fans, but should do the trick nicely.

These fans are for exhaust only. Intakes will be passive. So any heat they generate should be sucked out of the room as I will be placing them as close to the top part of the room as possible; since heat rises this will make it easier to exhaust it as it's already at the top of the room away from the plants and the fans are blowing out, not in.

Nice thing about these is that they're only 110 watts. About 30 watts less than my current box fans I'm using. So I got an upgrade and a slight power savings :D

edit: 1 fan is the exhaust side of the cool tube while the other is the exhausting the room through a charcoal filter, or kitty crystal filter. I will have a 12" passive intake on the backside of the cabinet with an a/c filter fitted to keep large air contaminents out of my sealed grow area.

Didn't mean to give the impression that it was an active intake/exhaust for the cool tube only. They're both for exhausting the light and the room.

Yeah that's what I thought.....it doesn't work that way you can take my word for it. You'll need some sort of fresh air intake. Trust me.

Two of those fans will do a 1kw beautifully but if your room is small it will still overheat unless you have cool FRESH air coming in from somewhere.

Passive intakes should suffice? or not?

Yes passive intake should be enough. I am running 600 with a 6" cool tube and only have 1 6" vortex for exhaust. Temps stay in the mid 70's to low 80's. One fan in side the closet for circulation as well. My intake is the 2" gap under the door, i built a shelf and did the abs elbows so everything is light tight and nothing escapes under the door.
