View Full Version : Sick and Smoking
I got sick about two weeks ago, from smoking with my sickly friend. I have had an irritating cough since then. I would randomly have fits of coughing, smoking or not. I've never been sick for this long, and the only symptom I really have is the coughing. For those who are unaware, I am a chronic smoker; I have smoked decent amounts daily for a long time... I heard from some friends that my lingering cough is due to smoke irritating my throat and damaging the already inflated bronchial tissue, or something of the sort.
Taking a break in order to relieve my throat is not a problem. I'm just trying to figure out if that's what's up or not

Well how sick was your friend? I think that may have alot to do with it in combination with the smoke.
I hardly hear of people having respitory problems from smoking cannabis.
But I think you should definately take a break and let your body heal.

I read in a vitamin bible that smoking cigs and/or marijuana lowers the vitamin c in your body. I usually try to take some every morning.

Im pretty sure that THC counteracts inflamation in the bronchial tubes.
Im pretty sure that THC counteracts inflamation in the bronchial tubes.
The physical smoke irritation could counteract that. (-1 for sick, -1 for smoke, +1 for "THC counteraction of bronchial tube inflammation" = -1)
My suggestion: get a vaporizer. ;)

Well r0k you could always try some cooking with cannabis recipes.
A lot of people that dont smoke take there cannabis cooked in food. :)

you just have a cough man. Even when youve ceased feeling sick your cough usually frustratingly hangs around for ages (ie 2-3weeks). Albeit if your coughing alot a very short break would not be a bad idea.

Hopefully it wasn't moldy weed. Its pretty common if the weed wasn't dried good. I've had the flu for the last 2 weeks which makes it about impossible to smoke so I just made me some brownies.:D
Thanks all. I've cut down immensely on cigarettes, and have been taking a little break on pot as well. I'm actually in one of my coughing fits right now, and I haven't smoked since 4.20pm yesterday
My friend wasn't that sick, and he and I have gotten several people sick, but nobody has had a persistant cough such as I. I've been taking some cough strips (place em on your tongue, then they dissolve and supposedly you no longer cough) but they've proved futile.
Happy toking

people who smoke weed and cigarettes and don't stop when they get sick are going to occasionally get a cough just like you describe, i've had it before, it sucks. if you go to the doc and tell them you are a smoker they'll probably give you something, i usually just tough it out. this used to happen to me with low quality weed, huge bong rips, and cigs. since i started smoking better quality weed it hasn't happened in years, knock on wood.
