Heya. I got a few questions.

I have 4 brand new, outdoor-grown (florida), seedlings. I have 2 questions about them.

1) 2 of the seedlings grew like 3 inches tall before the true leaves appeared, even though they were all planted 1 1/4 inch deep. Any reason for this? Is it the strain of plant?

2) One of the seedlings is growing normally, but its true leaves grew in a set of 3, rather than 2. So there are 3 jagged leaves growing above the 2 seedling round leaves. Why is this?

A friend of mine told me it was because they were of different strains. So, Different question.

Does anyone know what strain the 3-leaf seedling is?

How about the insanely tall one?

I believe the diagnoses of the three leaf seedling is called a "whorled phyllotaxy" which is a kind of genetic anomaly, but it's nothing to worry about. I think it'll grow out of it, but if not, it should still grow normally. As for the stretched seedling, it could be a number of things. Temperature variations and nutrient deficiencies can cause a seedling to stretch, as well as low levels of light. Are the leggy seedlings under direct sunlight? Or are they slightly shaded throughout the day?
