I need the weed for my MS but it's hurting my lungs so I need to get a vape. But I have two (prolly dumb) questions (sorry):
1. When I look at these things (da Buddha, for example), they seem to be made in part of glass, and that worries me; are they dangerous? can you get hurt if the glass shatters? Knowing me, that's what would happen (my hands shake); and
2. Does using a vape really help protect your lungs?
I have really bad pleurisy.
thanks!!

1. When I look at these things (da Buddha, for example), they seem to be made in part of glass, and that worries me; are they dangerous? can you get hurt if the glass shatters? Knowing me, that's what would happen (my hands shake)Glass is a top rate material, whether you're smoking or vaporizing. But if you're worried about breaking it, there are excellent vapes available that don't use it. As for shattering, I wouldn't worry about that. Even should you break something, there'll be no flying glass. The part you'd be likely to drop-the whip/bowl, is pretty thick glass (especially SSV/Da Buddha wands) and would just break into good sized chunks.
Since a whip type vape takes a little more work-putting the bowl to the heat multiple times, stirring, etc., maybe you'd want to consider a bag vape. It's a lot easier for the most part-set the temp, load the bowl, attach the bag and you're done. Good ones in the $250-300 range are the herbalAire and Extreme. For you, I'd recommend the herbalAire-no glass. Of course there's the Volcano too-no glass but over twice the price.
2. Does using a vape really help protect your lungs?Relief for my lungs was the reason I turned to vapor. After many years of smoking cigarettes and weed (even though I quit the cigs back in '96), I was ready to give it up because my lungs couldn't take smoke anymore. The few hits I was taking off my pipe every night were still sapping my wind and giving me a chronic cough. A short time after switching to vapor my wind was much better and the cough disappeared. It's a world of difference. I can still overload my lungs with a strong whip hit, but it's much easier to deal with than smoke, and doesn't leave my lungs burning and aching. Bagged vapor is even easier to deal with, since all the hits are pretty much the same. Might dry the throat out a little, but some water will rehydrate you. Either way, vapor is definitely the way to go for lung relief.

Last poster pretty much said it all. If you can't do the bag vaporizer you shouldn't worry about the glass shattering and cutting you. I have broken 6 whips and it was never resulted in flying glass. Usually a big chunk will fall out. It will leave a jagged edge and you should not use the whip again even if you can get a hit out of it. Inhaling small pieces of glass is not recommended. My lungs and throat have never been happier. I was sick once in the last year since switching to vapo. I used to get sore throat or colds 5 to 6 times a year. Vaporization is the way to go if you want to stay healthier. Oh and it doesn't smell and makes your greens last longer!!!! 2 other major pluses.

Thank you for your responses. I just didn't want to purchase something that would end up hurting me. :)
One of my students (adult age!) recommended this thing:
Affordable Herbal Vaporizer (http://www.dabuddhavaporizer.com/buy-a-buddha.html)
..or maybe I should buy the most expensive version??

the buddah gets good reviews. I just bought a hotbox and so far so good. I have also had a vapor brothers and that one worked very well also. I already posted something before, but stay away from this one call "the ultimate vapor machine" its a piece of crap. You need to make sure whatever vaporizer you buy is 1. Made in america 2. Has a ceramic (not metal) element. 3. No plastic pieces on the element or whip.

..or maybe I should buy the most expensive version??Under $200, Da Buddha would be my choice. Excellent build quality-pretty much the same as the original SSV. Different whip angle and hands free only on the DB. I didn't want hands free and liked the SSV's upward whip angle, so I went with that one. I think the DB's a geat buy at $159.
By the way, they don't like direct commercial links, so I'd edit out the Medical Marijuana / Cannabis Club Dispensary Reviews, Directory (http://www). in your post.
