Is it ok to use hps?

Is it ok to use 600w hps lamps at the vegative and flowering because if i get one of these i wont have enough money for a cfl its either one or the other. so can you tell me if its ok for me to use the 600w lights or not, and if i can i was thinking of putting a fan right next to the plant and put the light very high up. reply... thanks.........

Sure, a lot of growers use their HPS light for all their grow. No problems. :)
