Hello all

Recently i purchased a new Dell Vostro 1000. I got a free home basic window vista. Now i got it installed, and it is working pretty well, with just a few flaw here and there(which i thought they would have fixed since it was released a while ago). One problem i am having is pretty big though.

Ok so i right click on the volume control at the taskbar, and four icons pop up, Sounds, Recording Devices, Playback Devices, and finally at the top, the volume mixer. I know that the mixer is what is used to control the volume. So i try to open it, but it is like faded grey, like an icon apears when it can't be opened. So i let my vista do all the updates it needed, and figuered this would resolve my issues with the mixer. Well, it didn't at all, I still can't open the mixer.

I searched around the unfamiliar terrain of the vista layout, and found no help. I also searcher all over the web, and didn't even find anything on this topic at all.

So my question is, has anyone had any similar problems such as this with vista? I will post a screen shot of what it look like when i try to open it.

Thanks alot all, Jake

Well i solved the problem. For some reason, some how, dell forgot to put the disk for installing drivers in for my computer. So i got the disk and simply installed a sound driver, problem solved

But thanks for the help all
