So i just recantly started growing and had some problems from the start but things seem to be shapping up. Still some strange yellowing is appearing on the top leafs that are under two florecent lights i have. The yellowing begins were the stem meets the leaf and up towards the tips its a more normal green color. The yellow is a verry bright yellow and like i said the yellow fades more towards the top of the leaf and turns back in to a better looking green. Is this a nutriant def or mabey a ph broblem? please help.i will try to get some pic as soon as i can but in the mean time.....
P.S. i use a natural soil and mixed in perlite my self.

Hey stink hows it going im new to this site and also just started growing and i have been reading up alot on this site and have recently joined.Im having some problems with my indoors soil set up.for the most part things are going good but recently i have had the top two leafs that have recently appeared turning yellow but not in the same way
I have seen some of the leafs on this site. The yellowing starts were the stem starts the leafs and fades to a normal green color towards the top or tip of the leaf,I also have an explanation on the plant problems forum labeled "new grower having strange yellowing problems" just posted on 4/23/08. I guess the reason im asking you about these problems is because...well lets face it you seem to know alot about growing! An intrest we both share! In all of the forums ive seen and read you have been a great sorce of info for people and seem to know alot. Could this be a PH problem or a possible nutri def?? I will Have pics up some time too day. I also have questions about flushing your plants like i said im new to the whole growing thing but i love it! i hope to hear from you soon O Wise ONE!!!! :D

Sup Growgood, I stuck this in its own thread so people would see it. Just from the description, it sounds like an iron deficiency, but you should fill out the troubleshooting form and if possible post a pic. If you can't upload pics, you can put one up as your profile picture until you have more posts.
Iron def is often actually a lockout, so why don't you test the runoff pH of your soil and report back what you get.

Hey wow thanks alot! Like i said im new to all of this but here are some pics that should definitly tell you whats wrong.
Now there are burns on the bottom leafs but i was using mirical grow and did alot of reading and i have stopped using mirical grow which has stopped burning my leafs. I figured that one out LOL! but now like i said the top leafs are turning this crazy neon yellow color.I have a natural soil with perlite mixed in my self and have Maxigrow nut's. i have stopped using the nut's and have just been using normal tap water. What should i do?!
P.S. i will have the PH as soon as i can. Heres the pics. Thanks a Million for all the help!!:hippy:

S,indoor, organic choice mirical grow brand soil with mixed in perlite, tap water that has sat for 24 hours to let clorein evaporate, Age: 1 and almost a half month, fertilizer type is Maxigrow, feed about 2 times a week but none recently for obvious reasons, light sorce is Two florecent 20 watt bulbs one a plant and aquarium bulb and the other a sunshine bulb.I plan on investin in a grow-lux light and the lights are 3-4 inch above the plants,The temp in the room is a warm 67-73 Degrees,i have the plants on a 24/0 sched right now but i also plan on investing in a timer and putting them on a 12/12. The room isnt vented but there is only two plants in a 6'x6'1/2' room and some times i leave the door open,I also open the door extra hard twice every time i open the closet to push air around the room and i go in the closet at least 4-5 times a day to check on my girls so it gets a good amount of ventalation.
So thats my set up! Please I need all the help i can get as you can see,I need all the advice i can get!! Thanks a Million once Again!!!:stoned:

Looks like iron deficiency or lockout from here...
IF you poke around the lawn care section of a hardware store, there is a product by Shultz called 'Iron Green' which you can mix up WEAK WEAK WEAK and use as a foliar spray.
But usually your nutrients should have plenty of Fe in them, so I assume that the iron is actually locked out by too much OTHER fertilizer in the soil/nutes or your pH is off.
You can actually run your room warmer than that by the way, up to the low 80s.
So get your pH test kit handy and check the runoff out of the soil. You may also want to flush your plants, and then give them a nice feeding with a complete fertilizer. I'm not familiar with MaxiGrow... what are the numbers on it, and if you read the fine print on the back, does it have a complete set of micros too? (Fe Zn Mg Mn Ca B)

Thanks again stink! I really appreciate all the help. So about my Nut's ,I purchased the at a local hydro shop and it does have all the good stuff in them, this is a list of what is in the Nut's
N,Ca,Mg,S,Fe,Mn,P2O5,K2o.
So It sounds like and looks like to me that i've got some good nut's....I better i paid like 50 bucks for them lol:stoned:
Also like I said i have just been using normal tap water and woke up this morning to check on the girls and the one plant looked better allready the top leafs are turning a normal color green.About the FLUSH im not all that sure on how to flush the soil.Do i just neeed to flush it out with a lot of water?? and then let it dry out,and then feed the plant. And then start it on its normal feeding sched?
Also what do you think of the 12/12 cycle would you recomend something eles or is that going to be the best option for lighting sched with such low powered lights?
P.S. Once agin thanks a million o wise one:D

Okay cool.
Those plants- they look like you got them as clones? Often the low growth on clones looks scraggly at first as they adjust to life off the mom.
Flushing... I think there is a sticky on how to do that somewhere, or in the FAQs but basically, pour through 3x the volume of your pot using water adjusted to a correct pH (you check the runoff pH and then make a flush solution that will make it go to the correct SOIL pH when combined), then immediately water with your regular grow fert at half strength.
If new growth is already greening up, you might not even have to worry! Also if your grow fert has micros in it (it does I see), you can make a weak dilution to use as a foliar feed, just with everything, go easy...less is indeed more!

They may not need a flush; check your soil runoff pH first! And check the COLOR of the runoff... it should be fairly clear, if a bit dirt-y. If that makes sense. If it's yellowish, keep flushing, lol. And if the pots have drip trays built in, take them off before flushing, as they will block the drainage!
Oh 12/12... only if you want to flower right away. You might want to hold off and keep them on 24/0 until you are certain that they are perfectly healthy. It is harder to fix shit in flower.
You are making me blush! I gotta run, back Monday. ;)

Hey stink! hows it goin i got thoughs PH levels for you and they were a little high. The water i use is my house tap water wich has an alright ph level of 7.0. My run off was also at 7.0. but the water that I have been using is in an old orang jucie bottle. I rinsed it out and then filled it with water and let it sit for 24 hours but after testing the ph wich was 8.0,BAD BAD BAD, I quickly changed bottles and am using the water at 7.0 should i try to lower it by flushing my plants? Should i keep using my tap water? What do you think? Let me know o great one!!!! lol

Tap water is fine, I haven't read the other posts but just looked at your picture.
It looks like you're suffering from lockout issues caused from too much nutes which in turn probably the ph in your medium. Some of your leaves look burned while others look like iron deficiency issues. I doubt you're having it both ways especially using tap water and your nutes should have micronutes in them like iron so this shouldn't be an issue.
I would suggest flushing with tap water 3x the pot size (ie: 3 gallon pot = flush with 9 gallons of water). then immediatley after flushing give them a light feeding (1/4 or 1/8 strength) nutes to help replenish what you've washed away.
And yes, keep using tap water. It contains calcium and magnesium. Something you have to supplement if you water with distilled or RO water. So unless your city water is bad/has high ppm then I would recommend that you just keep using it.

P.S.S. The numbers on my nut's (maxigrow)10-5-14.
The MaxiGrow you got is fine for vegging, but you'll need a nute for flowering, too. One with a lower nitrogen level. (MaxiBloom)
While at the Hydro shop, and since you'll have your wallet out anyway...might want to ask 'em about micronutes as well.
I'm surprised he didn't try and sell you a 3 part nute system. These 'systems' usually include a bottle of vegging (grow) formula, one bottle with the micronutes, and a bottle for flowering stage (bloom).
