Hey guys,
I was Just Wondering why there are so many -pardon my french-
Shitty Vaporizers on the market?I have seen alot that don't Seem to work at all, Also My Roomate got a vaporizer...I Forget the Name,I think it was The Ultimate Medical Smoker,it was a Glass Dome Model.Anyways it S-U-C-K-E-D!!!!!There wasn't even a temperature control! The Glass dome Did Get misty and you did get high...but I would rather actually smoke the weed then use that Vaporizer.I'm Sure I'd Be More satisfied and Impressed with a Digital Volcano or something.
But Back to my question...Why Do some companies put out such crappy vaporizers!I just read the thread about the guy who went through 2 vaporizers because of a major design flaw!
Here's a Pic of a Vaporizer VERY similar to my roomates.exept his is white.

I think a big reason people get away with selling crappy vapo's is that a lot of people aren't comfortable with returning a weed covered vapo through the mail. Alot of places won't even let you return it if you used it for smoking weed for obvious reasons. Its kind of a loophole because technically you aren't supposed to smoke weed out of anything. A good way to avoid a crappy vape is to make sure it has a ceramic heating element. This is probably the most important piece of the puzzle. If it doesn't have the cermamic heating element then you are probably buying a glorified soldering iron which is bad for many reasons. The other important factor is that no plastic is used. The heat is going to release fumes from the plastic which you will inhale, kinda kills the vape/health ratio.

There is an issue with the plastic as told before, but there is the glue used between parts, this is another thing that will come with the smoke when heating. I guess for for health you better stick with something of quality. The Vaporbrothers vap is using a natural mineral heater, you can't know what was used to build the cheap ones. I think you better stick with smoking rather than vaping plastic and glue !

Here's a Pic of a Vaporizer VERY similar to my roomates.exept his is white. The pic is a conduction vape, or hot plate vape. Only the part that sitting on the hot metal gets vaped. It's the original, 1st generation design. A lot of other cheapies of the convection design (which is what you want) are boxes made in China with digital slapped on to take advantage of the digital rage, where everybody thinks they have to have digital displays. Best advice for a good vape-look at what dealers like Vaporstore and Gotvape are selling. They don't sell junk, especially Vaporstore. And my motto is, if you can't contact the manufacturer by phone, don't buy the vape. And you don't need to spend a fortune on the Volcano Digit either.

I have one of those chinese digitals and it works great!
do I think it has the longevity of a VaporBros? Nope.
Was $65 a more reasonable entry point? Yup.
Does it work just as good? yes.
I think there is some hype when it comes to the high end stuff.
Conduction vapes though do not work as well. They work great for hash though.

Believe or not the $20 ubie (made by american smokeless) is a really effective vaporizer. It conserves like crazy and provides very strong effects (usually). The only downside is I've broken 3 (it was my fault each time though, but you still gotta handle them with care) and that when you burn the herbs (which has only happened to me once in over a year of use) the smoke is so close to your mouth that it burns your throat like crazy. I was considering buying a "real" vaporizer after I broke my first ubie, but ended up buying a few more instead for cheaper than one "real" vape and I'm happy with my investment so far. And it's also a convection vape which is good, the hot air from the lighter passes through the herbs rather than holding th lighter under the glass until it heats up the herbs which could take a long time.

Congratulations on your "really effective" technique. Just goes to show that even the simplest vape can do the job if used properly.

The ubie is how I was introduced to vaporizing. I'm surprised it is not what scared me away from it as well! Like you, I noticed they broke easily. In my case they just cracked from the heat (it seemed). It was also very easy to accidentally burn some of the weed, because the holes allowed direct heat to touch the herb and the herb at the end next to the holes got 100x hotter then the herb at the other end of the tube. Because of weed burning towards the end, and because of how tiny the thing is, it was very difficult to get the weed out. And you have to get weed in and out frequently, if you want to smoke more then a "pinky finger nail" size pinch, because it is so small.
I now lightbulb vape. I couldn't be happier. The glass is thin, which makes for fast heat transfer, but it is very heat resistant... I haven't seen a single one break. I can put in up to a joint's worth of weed at a time. Putting the weed and getting it out is as easy as tipping the end of the bulb toward the counter top. The shape of the bulb ensures the weed forms in a nice neat, fairly thin pile in the side of the bulb. The heat applies evenly to all the weed in the bottom of the pile, and between moving the flame around and shaking the bulb every few seconds, it is very easy to make sure you never burn the herb. I can hit a lightbulb vape many, many times in a row without having to change out weed or burn any. I wish I had known about this method for all those years I smoked. I no longer cough at all.
I imagine the electric vaporizers would put this method to shame, but I can't think of a more effective way to vaporize portably with a direct flame.

i tried the homemade lightbulb vape and it worked amazing.. yet i would not use this evryday and you would have to make a new one evry time and thats not as fun as the video makes it seem.. on the video they recomend to use a .3, i only had a .2 two tiny buds and i never wanted to chance not getting high off it so i took half of that and smoked it in a bong.. so now i have a .1 and put half of that in the vape and smoked in my room, something i never do but i did because they say it dont smell but they full of shit because it stank of weed after i was done.. never burned my throat and i got full purest taste of my herb, and yep it is more like a sativia high ! and i was happy as shit when i made my .2 last all night lol
i was sketchin out when i was making the lightbulb vape lol was walking around all stealth and trying to not get cought by someone... then i rememberd it was just a weed pipe i was making..
