What i use is the sound proof material that is used in recording studios i take a piece and turn it into a tube with the inline fan wrapped inside i use plastic ties to keep it tight and it works great, muffles the sound considerably. You can also browse the internet and search for sound proof box. I built one for my fan that i use for my inline hood, that works great, reduced the sound to a low hum and i have no over heating issues.

Add a bit of extra flexi duct or an odor sok over the outlet end of the exhaust. That quiets the noise a bit. Just having the fan be the end of the line is louder.

is the fan noisy or air noisy
put your carbon filter or your air outlet into a big trashcan with insulation and poke holes in the trashcan to let the air escape
build a soundproof box to enclose the fan
