Well here goes.. Plants were started April 1st.
This is my first grow (atleast that has shown anything worth completing). I have killed about 20 plants using different setups until i came to this one that seems to work. !!!DO NOT HYPONEX POTTING SOIL!!! This is responsible for many many plant deaths. It hardens to an almost concrete form and I have lost seeds that are now fossilized.. literally.
My grow BOX is 1ft x 2ft x 3ft. I have about 15 CFLS of various watts, 5 of them blue 30w. I have 12 of the lights mounted on a board from my painting canvas that is inserted through the box and hangs about 10'' from the plants. Down by the plants (if you can see from the horrible pictures) I have 3 of the blue lights mounted, as close as possible without burning. I have a 6'' fan at the bottom for an intake which is close to the window so if the temps get too high i can put the window fan on to bring fresh air into the box. For exhaust I have a window fan that fits over the box. I have half of the exhaust fan aluminum foiled for reflectivity and there isn't much of a light loss.
....I know the foil isn't a good idea but my cash is gone and from what I've read CFLs do not generate strong enough light to create hot spots.. either way the box is what it has to be.. I am growing in my gf's house (we live together, but its her place) and I have pissed her off enough (...i might have dissected a few lights of hers...:D ).
My soil is straight MG potting mix for now, but I plan on adding some sand and trying to acquire some perlite for the top. So far I have been using no nutrients but I am thinking about starting here next week.
I start the plants in 18oz blue party cups that i cut down to about 6oz, I keep them in there for about a week.. week and a half and then i transplanted them to 2 litre bottles with (drainage holes the whole way). I plan on transplanting them one more time (I would really like to finish them in the 2 litre but I do not think that will be good..opinions?)
Well.. here is the pictures.. after reviewing them i realized the camera's view hole is nothing like the pictures it takes so use your imagination for what you can't see.......sorry.. it is the worst camera in existence. I edited the photos to sharpen them up.
