You want to plant after the last frost (freeze) of the year. There are "gardening guides" online that tell you the average for your area. I think Missouri will be around May 1 or so, but I don't know. I'm in N.C. and we don't usually have a freeze after April 1.

Is to watch the grocery stores! When they start putting out tomato plants, wait a week or so and then plant! Grocers don't want to lose the profit from the plants, so they usually wait until the average frost-free date in your area to get their tomato plants. Up here on the mountain, they aren't out yet, but the bags of potting mix are out, so it won't be long (we had snow last week!)- Granny:hippy:
