This doesn't have much to do with marijuana, but for about a year I've been having more and more problems with Crohn's, slowly I've been loosing weight, but now I'm starting to get a bit worried. I don't have health insurance because I don't have a job, so I can't go to a doctor or get a prescription for any drugs that might help. Lately marijuana hasn't been very effective for keeping down stomach pains, but it still usually helped me eat. Now it's not really doing anything and I'm loosing weight again. Down to about 132 now, and I'm never hungry. Now I just found out I have an ulcer, so I'm sure this isn't going to be a big help.

I got some tips from a friend who suffers from frequent ulcers, so hopefully I can take care of that quickly, but I fear my entire digestive system might be deteriorating, and I don't know what to do. I searched the net for Canadian drug pharmacies, but the ones I found needed an RX which I can't get, even those didn't carry the exact meds I used to take so I'm not sure about that route.

Any ideas? I probably shouldn't be smoking marijuana anymore because the smoke isn't good for the ulcers, but every day my stomach cramps up more and more. I have a feeling I might just have to go to a doctor anyway, but I have no clue what that would cost or if they would even see me without insurance. If you have some tips I'm all ears...or eyes I guess.

I came accross this really eye opening info while reading on potty training my toddler who happens to prefer squatting.... It Points out that Crohn's and other IBDs are only present in Western nations and diet has not proven to be the cause. Instead they present theory and very convincing evidence that sitting toilets through mis-aligning the colon and producing stress on the pelvic floor, produce a whole host of pelvic intestinal, and bowel disease.

Check it out, the whole page is about effects of toilet position: Health Benefits of the Natural Squatting Position (http://www.naturesplatform.com/health_benefits.html?sid=NP282084-62137-1207980445&a=&p=health_benefits.html&s=&c=&x=1#colitis)

Also, I agree with the above poster who suggested indicas. Sativas can be stimulating, including to the intestines.

best of luck

Just for an unexpected update:

In the past I have noticed after eating something with garlic I tended to feel better. However, I never really thought it was garlic helping me because while working for Domino's for about 3 years, I frequently ate pizza and cheesy bread covered heavily with garlic, (I love the stuff). Anyway, I just always thought I was lucky to be able to eat that type of food and not have severe stomach problems, (cheese is usually a no-no), but I am now convinced I was doing so well because I was frequently eating garlic.

I just tested this theory out today by buying some garlic supplements. I really wasn't expecting much, but I swear this shit seems to work better at quickly relieving stomach pain than marijuana EVER did! I don't know how well it will work for long term use, but all I know is I took a capsule earlier in the day and I was feeling great. Started having cramps again towards the night, took another, and literally within about 10 minutes my stomach stopped cramping up. (2 pills a day is the recommendation)

I did a little quick research on garlic and Crohn's, and I kinda got sidetracked because that search took me to a page talking about SCD, or "Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Basically, it's some sort of popular diet for people who need a diet change.

I was wondering if anybody else knows anything about that or has even heard of SCD?

As for the garlic supplements, if you are going to try this I hope you like garlic. The box says it has "virtually no garlic odor", but that is laughable, lol. You can clearly taste the garlic once you put the pill in your mouth, after you swallow it you can taste it envelope your stomach and throat. It feels as if you just swallowed a piece of garlic whole. I can also feel it through my skin, the box claims it won't make you smell like garlic, but I haven't yet tested this out in the public, and to be honest, might want to test it on an understanding friend or family member before seeing if random strangers can smell it, lol.

I have ulcerative colitis - have you tried baking with it? I have found this has had a positive effect on me before

[quote=Nailhead]I was wondering if anybody else knows anything about that or has even heard of SCD?[QUOTE]

The essential principle behind the SCD diet is to starve the bacteria in your gut (that are making you ill), by cutting out specific carbohydrates. Unfortunately this means you are very restricted in what you can eat, and it must be adhered to AT ALL TIMES.

I tried it for a couple of months and i stuck by it with mild success which then plummeted. I live in england so I couldn't even get hold of half the stuff, it was frustratin

the almond flour really bothered me, that's when I gave it up cos i had a really bad day due to the way i cooked with almond flour, it was like i'd been poisoned. went 20+times that day

I did notice a difference after just two days, but then came the die off which wasn't very pleasant at all. This is when the bacteria starts dying, it gets really aggressive in your guts at this point and lasts about a fortnight.

The chicken stock is very good for you, that's one thing i took from it.
definately try it because people do have undoubted success with it
