Help!!! ASAP!
We were told a few years back that the water company no longer had to come into our house to read the meter because they had hand held devices to read them from outside. That being said - we have our personal grow room built right next to our water meter.
We've just received a letter from the water company saying that continue our service they must come into the house and read the actual meter. We have 2 weeks to comply and our system is complex to say the least.
Can they come into our house??????
We're kind of freaking out a little here.
Advice PLEASE!!!!:eek::eek::eek:

well as far as forcibly being able to enter the house, its possible that within a matter of time without compliance they could but thats basing it off of absolutely nothing so I'm not that sure but honestly you have two weeks. You can't just take it down? I mean I know its gonna suck having to put it all back together but if it means that or jail I'd just do the work.

I know that may end up having to be the case. I was just curious if they actually have that right - Why can't we just read the numbers to them???

For them to legally come into your house, they would need police and a warrant. There is NO authority in an electric company.

By the way, it's most likely the electric companys meeter anyway.
Tell them to remove the meeter and install it outside. (they usually offer to move it upon request to avoid a lawsuit against them regarding a "I told you that meeter was in a dangerous spot near the drapes" so they get sued.

basically create a problem that makes the company move it to avoid a lawsuit.
