kudos again to Opie Yutts, for pointing me to bubblers  ... 13 seeds, 3 varieties, dropped DRY into RapidRooters, and all 13 are above the surface by the 4th day :D ... built this thing for cloning, and accidentally found out they are great for starting seeds, too ... (I always overwater seeds and kill them, I cant seem to screw up these RapidRooters :wtf:) ... 7-day old newborns in the pic: 1-3 = Motarebel's Killa Queen 2006, 4-9 = NorCal Daddy's Girl, 10-13 = Alien Seeds' Sour Jack ... ... yes, they all look the same at this age :D

good growth is evident in just the past 48 hours, but also, a bit of 'spotting' has occurred, on a couple of them :wtf: ... probably either a minor calcium deficiency (so, I added CalMag+), or, could just be from some sloppy foliar feeding I did (didnt have the doohickey on 'spray', had it on 'squirt' ,,, good grief :wtf:) ... regardless, it's a weed, they'll be fine ... she should just be grateful to not be outside, in the clutches of that cruel bitch, Mother Nature :S2:

my little 'clone cabinet' uses a big 85-watt CFL, blue spectrum ... then, they will go into my 'grow cabinet', 400-watt high pressure lamps ... would love to have a couple 1000-watters, but my present electrical situation, precludes larger lamps

upon closer inspection, I see that 'spotting' is only on the four Sour Jacks ... the Killa Queens and NCDG are fine ... well, they got some CalMag+ anyway, hope they like it :D

looks like my 'calcium-deficiency' diagnosis was probably correct ... I was using FF 'Grow Big', while waiting for my store to get their FF 'Grow Big Hydro' in stock ... I had wondered what the differences between FF 'GB' and 'GB Hydro' were, besides nutrient strengths ... comparing the two, guess what ? . .. the FF soil version of Grow Big does NOT have calcium in the formula, the Hydro version does ... cool, that explains it ... regardless, only the 'Sour Jack's showed a little bit of 'spotting', probably indicating the 'Killa Queen' and 'NorCal Daddy's Girl' aren't as calcium-dependent, or perhaps, more acid-loving ... ??? ... dunno, and may never know (or care :D) ... here's the little ones on Day 17, from germination, still alive, despite my neglect ... I usually find my plants do better, when I leave them the hell alone ...

well, everybody is still alive and doing well, here on this 23rd day of life ... time to sex, so I gave them a shot of Fox Farm Open Sesame, and cut the lamp back to 12/12 yesterday, to promote flowering ... shouldn't be long now ...

I always started my seeds dry, then changed to 'pre-soaking' with paper towels a few years ago ... I recently went back to starting DRY seeds (ala Mike of Mandala's advice) in rapidrooters, and have gotten my fastest germination with those (4 days in a bubbler setup) ... a lot less chance of 'damp-off' pythium-wilt, starting them dry, too

I place a dry seed ('pointed' end down) into a 'RapidRooter' plug, which is then placed into my homemade bubble-cloner ... first 2 days dark, then gentle light for a couple more ... easiest seed germination I've ever seen ...

better yet, go to Mandala's section: Germination (http://www.mandalaseeds.com/html/germination.html), and also, read his F.A.Q. section  ... Mike and his wife have put together some of the best growing suggestions I've ever seen, they have an outstanding website .. very easy to understand, and no 'hocus-pocus' weird ideas, just good, basic growing ...

one of the Sour Jacks has been developing stem-rot :wtf: ... the other 12 seedlings are just fine, a bit puzzling why this single plant has it (stem-rot is usually caused by a 'too-wet' situation in soil grows) ... here in my bubbler, she is no wetter than her surrounding plants ... to play it safe, I painted her stem with hydrogen peroxide, also adding some to the reservoir ... I will let her 'disinfect' for 24 hours, and then do a reservoir change, just in case it's something fungal ... just thought ya might want to see a good example of stem-rot ... best thing about having too many plants, in too little space, is not getting upset when 'shit happens' :S2:

Never saw one of those, by the time i got to this part of the post, i was thinking of making something like it.....but now i see what it is, VERY nice thing. You get that set up at a hydro store? i got to get me something like that.....is it just for hydro? or are those pellets going into soil?
Thanks for posting the pics of the full set up.
great grow you got going, great variety too!

I made the bubbler, about as simple as drilling a hole ... go back to beginning, and read the posts ... I built it for cloning, and discovered it's even better as a seed starter ... a couple plugs will go into hydro-buckets and the rest will be transplanted into soil ...

well, under other circumstances, I would be pretty satisfied, BUT, still not showing any signs of sex, so I am beginning to suspect I may have 100% females, again (males tend to 'show' first)... :wtf: ... not the results youre looking for, when you are trying to breed some back-crosses :( ... time will tell, some balls still may show up :D ... it's Day 30 now, from germination, and I need to see sex, so they can be transplanted, too large for bubbler as it is ... note how the center row (my NorCal Daddys Girls), obviously raced past the Killa Queens and Sour Jacks ... definitely a grower

Aw shit Reap, I was 'rooting' [har har har] for males! I promise that If I get any when I pop the next round of beaners I'll make sure to keep a stud and carry on the line. Maybe I'll go poke around my 'friendlies' list and find out if anyone is holding C99 breeding stock. Worse comes to worse, trying to cube it out from a NL male should be doable, if a bit of a PITA.

I can't tell you how many times, some asshole has called me a 'liar' , because I almost always have 100% females :wtf: ... ain't my fault that God loves me :D ... now watch, tomorrow morning, I'll wake up to twelve males  ... I sometimes make God mad, too :D

holy shit thouse plants look great as hell.
so I must be really doing somthing wrong with starting my seeds. cuz only 1 seed has poped out of the seed starters.
the rest R still siting there.
what can I do to help them open up and grow already.
I am so frustrated over it.
and I would love to get 100% females. but I ain't breeding any more. cuz I now have way to many seeds to grow as it is.
some like 100+ seeds.
well anyway I hope U have some good luck on getting the males U wanted.
off to go smooke on the water.:D
