i am looking for a good system for growing the most plants in the least amount of space. my grow area is about 5' wide by 6' long by 4' high and cuz of my height issue i want a thin system. The roof of my area is slanted so i can train my plants to lean as they get bigger so i what something that can give the plant roots a firm hold as they are leaning. Do you think an E&F is good?? and what medium should i us? for example will hydroton give the roots a strong hold because i heard rockwool retains to much water which=root rot:(

i am open to all suggestions-thx:thumbsup:

Hydroton is really foolproof if you remember to soak it and set the pH to 6.0 before putting in the plants. Ebb n flow is also quite easy. You want the flattest res you can get to keep your table height low. The Botanicare reservoirs are flat for their height, and designed to take the weight of the actual tray.

The roots grow into the spaces between the pebbles.
You can fill the tray for a 'bed', you can put the plants in baskets and then insert them into the bed, or you can run modular (this is what I personally recommend, ESPECIALLY from seed!!!) by filling quart pots with pebbles, floating the pebbles by dunking the pot in a big container of water, and gently sliding the rooted clone in there- or if it's from seed, you can just put a rapidrooter plug in.
I have a couple threads showing the quart pots of hydroton in the grow log section, but I run vertical NFT. All it would take to swap over is rearrange the tubing and set the pump on a timer.

yo thxs for the help and i read your thread and i still dont understand the vertical system you used but i was also interested in the whole NFT system because you said it was smaller than the E&F i am looking into it.
