A Peruvian woman has returned from the dead, reports claim

A Peruvian woman declared clinically dead awoke as her surprised family prepared to put her body into a coffin.

Lima daily La Republica reported that Felicita Guizabalo Viera, 33, suffered from cancer and was declared dead by a doctor on Saturday.

Two hours later, as her family prepared to hold her wake, she opened her eyes.

Guizabalo, whom her neighbours now call "the dead woman", says she remembers two men dressed in white carrying her through abysses and deserts, but that she begged God to let her return to her four children.

The strange case occurred in Peru's northern La Libertad province.

Damn...

Seems quite impossible. The brain damage after two hours dead would make her a vegetable. I think it was probably a misdiagnose and some serious passing out.

good argument for embalming, once embalmed you dont come back frome the dead. wich is incidently one of the reasons we embalm. before we saterted there were several cases a year of misdiagnosis and countless peole buried alive. suck out the blood and fill with preservatives problem solved.

Interestingly enough it's also the same reason we have Wakes before a funeral :)

Before medical science came out of the dark ages many people were buried alive.

Isn't the purpose for a Wake to give the dead a chance to Wake up before being burried?

I remember reading that ancient societies were afraid of dead people digging their way out, and running around all crazy - which led to using gravestones to help keep them beneath the earth. The people who were paid to watched over the graveyards would make up elaborate, scary stories, to maintain job security.

Isnt that where the term graveyard shift came from?
Where they would put bells in the coffins and have someone wait in the graveyard, just incase someone was buried alive.
