seedlings under hps ?

Hey canna.com'ers iv just gotten a 400w son-t agro hps with a cool tube and fan/ducting. I just wanted to know if i could hatch seeds in soil under it. Would be great if i could.

I've burned several seedlings trying to germ them under a 400w so I'd say stick wtih a cfl or something pretty gentle.

Thanks weedhound, do you think there is anyway to germ them under it but protect them with something as its not very hot under it (i can hold my hand on the cooltube and feel almost no heat) i suppose its the light intensity that is going to harm them. Not heard of any product that can protect seedlings, what about hanging a white cotten sheet over it to block out some of the light ?

Not to sure but let me know if you got ideas
