I was wondering would it be more effective to have 4 plants in 1 gallon pots or 1 plant in a 4 gallon pot. It's a matter of space... Which would yield more?

Either method should yield similar amounts. It's really the size of your canopy that counts.

It really depends on if your using fem or non-fen seeds. If its a height issue 4 plants using lst/sog/scrog would yeild more but if you have lots of horizontal space 1 or 2 plants might be the go. Also if your using hps you can get alot more yeild from fewer plants as the light can penetrate the lower branches much more effectively.

Generally more plants will give you more yeild in a shorter cycle as you wouldnt have to veg nearly as long.

Hope this is of some help :)

Thanks guys for the very quick responses. Ya, its a matter of horizontal space. I might just buy another larger rubbermaid and have one for veg and one for flower. Im using CFL's too and plant on LSTing.

Both methods will yeild simarlar amounts but more plants and a shorter veg time will take much less time to achieve, its pretty much putting all your eggs into one basket which isnt always the best if you havent had a great deal of experience growing.

I will say that a fair few cfls will be needed if you want a nice thick canopy of product but it can easily be done. Iv found that my 400w hps with a cool tube gives 50000 lumens as compared to 10000 using 8 23w cfls. So if yeild is what you want the hps is the way to go. I made the swap because i hate heaps of cables and mess and the cooltube does a great job of keeping things cool :)
