Hi guys,
Iv made the final changes to my setup and it is now as follows:

.8 x 1m x .6m grow tent with a huge bathroom fan build into the left side at the bottem
400w son-t agro in a cooltube with reflector and external ballast
full fan driven induction from the cooltube to the right side of the tent

Im growing 4 plants in 2 autopot using lst and some serious sog

The only thing im concerned with is the temps are around 86-88F When the light is on and about 78-80 when its on. Not sure if this will cause trouble but i do know that im running about 20,000 lumens per sq ft.

Advice, comments and suggestions would be great :hippy:

Although the temps are a little high I don't think you'll wind up with a problem. You seem to have lots of air movement and that will help. If you added Co2 to your tent it will help the plants to more easily tolerate high temps.

Hey obvisiously meant 86-88 on and 78-80 off... I would hope it doesn't get hotter at night..

You say the tent is .8m x 1m x .6m? Thats like... 2 1/2ft x 3ft x 2ft? You sure that isn't a hydrohut mini? 3.125ft x 3.125ft x 7ft?

Thanks earthy for filling in the gaps for me :) Firstly the temps are now around 82-86 with the lights on and 76-78 with the lights off. The tent is a growlush prop/veg tent and around the size you listed. Everyone at my local hydro shop said i wouldnt be able to run a 400w hps in a prop tent but hey the proof is in the pudding. Althought my plants are about 3-4 weeks old and are only up to the 3rd or 4th node so im not sure what the go is.

Peace

btw the exact measurements are 90cm high 1m wide and 55-60cm deep, the inside is panda film so its quite a good tent for just a few plants :)

You're setup perfect for a 400w. That works out to 66.7 watts per sq. foot. How many CFMs(cubic feet per minute) is your fan?

Hey im not sure what the cfm is but it is the best one that my hydro store sells it was about 150aus (130us) it sucks hard thats all i can say. Do you know about how close to the cool tube i could get without doing damage to the plants ?

Mr Dank,
A question if i may :)

What sort of yeild should i expect from these plants using that lamp ? Should i add more plants ? How long should i veg for ? Should i Sog, scrog or lst ? Im just really lost when it comes to yeilding and such. The only think i know is i would prefere to yeild less more often rather than more and less often if you know what i mean

Peace

Hey darbolah, looks like your well on your way to a good setup. I'd say for a first grow you should be happy with anything over 2 oz per plant. It's gonna depend on a lot of stuff tho, what strain ur growing and all the variables like length of veg and the grow conditions etc. I'll try to answer your questions as best i can.
Should I add more plants?
Get as many in there as you can lol Just allow for how big they'll be when fully grown.
How long should i veg?
This depends on if ur growing from seed or clone, from seed try and give them 2 months veg to allow for full maturity before switching to flowering, this will probably require some topping and/or lst to keep them short enough so they don't get too tall when you flower. If they're clones they won't need as much time to reach maturity, you can probably put them into flower somewhere between 3-4 weeks.
Should i sog, scrog or lst?
Again this depends on the strain, some plants are better for sog than others, personally i'd have a bit of an experiment with whichever one you wanna try or mix them up and at the end you'll know which one works best for you.

As far as the temps go, i'd be a little worried about them. Plan ahead, is it likely where you live that the temps are gonna get higher? If so you need to sort them now rather than have them get any higher and it start affecting your grow. Like Grey1223 said co2 will help the plants tolerate the heat better but it can be kinda expensive. When are your lights on? If you don't have them off at the hottest time of day you should do, it'll be easier when you flower obviously as the off time will be longer. I have my lights on in flowering from about 10pm till 10am.

Hope this helps

1.What sort of yeild should i expect from these plants using that lamp ?

That all depends on too many variables to predict but if you do just "okay" you'll have about 4 oz. If you do really good then you will get a gram per watt of lighting, which would be 400g or about 14 oz. But you would have to have really really good genetics and really know your shit.So the best you should try for is a gram per/watt. As long as the AIR, LIGHT, WATER, NUTRIENTS, and GROWING MEDIUM stay in the proper conditions and levels you should have a good grow.

2.Should i add more plants ?

For your space I would grow between 2 and 4. I Always get a better yeild when i have use a few big well trained plants. Light distribution is important and it is easier with just a few plants, plus watering is easier.

3.How long should i veg for ?

This is another variable question. The rate of growth, the pattern of growth, the early flowering stretch is all dependant on genetics. So you would veg. indica plants longer than you would veg sativas. I would say for most hybrids you should grow them from seed 2months, from clone 1 month. And thats assuming it vigorous vegetative growth.

4.Should i Sog, scrog or lst ?

Well, Ideally if you can do Scrog that would be the best. But I honestly would save that for growers who have a few good harvests under their belt. It just makes things a bit more complicated. Starting out its best to be simplistic. I would just grow them SOG with low-stress Training. Set-up a monthly harvest cycle so half your plants are finishing when the other half still has another month. With LST just Try to focus all of the power of the plant into between 6 and 12 top colas. Prune undergrowth that doesn't get light. I usually top my plants at about the 5th or 6th node about a week and a half before i start 12/12. I also tie each brach down so i have a even canopy of top colas, its very important to keep the top canopy even so they will all be able to get as much light as possible without burning them.

thankyou both soooo much, you guys really know your shit so il take it all into consideration. The temps are under control, iv set up a prop/cloning area with some t5's. My only problem is pH balancing and im really stuck and pH isnt staying the same in my autopots. The pH in the 30L resevoir is fine and hasnt been changing but the water in the autopot resevoir is changing so often. Im sorta stuck here. If you want to know what im growing in just google "auto-pot" and i have a hydropack 2 pot system using strait perlite.

Thanks again guys :D
