Are you able to take tours of grow rooms? I know that cannabis is not 100% legal there but didn't know about the rooms.

Wow, thats a long time to be in Amsterdam alone. You going anywhere else and is your dad a smoker/cool with you doing it? I've been there once, last summer. Bring a lot of money because the weed is not cheaper (probably due to the euro partially). The red light district is very touristy but its cool seeing lots of other stoners just smokin all around you. Try and do some of the other legal drugs they offer (I'd go into more detail but the rules of this forum blaauughh) But do them in the park where there's less people haha...

Yes my dad is very cool, and is very excitied about going. I wouldnt have a better time with anyone els than him, so im glad we get to go, it should be an awsome father/son experience. I been doing alot of research on the shops and such, and I know one of the first stops i will be making is to Conscious Dream, among many other places lol, it should be a blast! Needless to say, i never been more excitied for summer to pass than I am now, given its going to be cold wen I go, but we chose nov 27th to leave so we can get there AFTER the cannabis cup, yes AFTER lol, we were going to go for the cannabis cup but i heard its such a waste of money, so why not go AFTER and try the 2008 winner lol, COME ON NOVEMBER!!! Any tips or advice is greastly appreciated.

dude..you're lucky. I'm actually headed there in 2 weeks and I can't wait.

I've been there a few times and although I'm no expert, here are few things to check out

my fav red light district coffee shop:
= Baba. It'stouristy, but it's comfy
- Hill Street Blues - not a great place, but they have this stuff called 'Buddhas' Sister' which is really good stuff

fav all around place
- Abraxsis...outside of RLD, near Dam Square. great place, especially if you like to eat it and not smoke all the time. shakes, brownies etc.
- Grey Bar is good too...good place to buy.

We rent a houseboat and stay there. it's like an apartment, and a great thing especially if you've smoked. I would highly recommend it.

Not sure what you're into, but if you're into food and trendy places check out Supper Club. Also after you've smoked, go to the Japanese Pancake House....incredible

If you like the rav and nightclub scene check out Escape Bar and Hotel Arena

If you like beer be sure to tour the Heineken Brewery. It's cool and beer is good.

It looks like you have time....get on a train for 30 minutes and head to Utrecht. It's an incredible city north of the dam. sunken canals and guess what...coffee shops. you'll love it.

have fun. it's a great city. be sure to get out of the RLD...there's a lot to see in Amsterdam and it's one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Utrect is a great place to visit. We saw a Ry Cooder and David Lindley concert there, in the late 1990's. Lindley said he got baked before the show at a coffee shop across the street from the concert hall.

I went to Amsterdam a long time ago also made a vist it to Utrect. we had a good time, it was fun cycling around Amsterdam.
There was a coffe shop in Utrect that did a good deal on the smoke so we spent a lot of time in there.
One tip for you is dont carry a lot of money on you only take what you need for each day.
Have a good time and good Luck.:thumb. sup:

im glad this thread is positive. im tired of all the haters telling people not to go to amsterdam because its trendy, or a tourist trap or 'the weed isnt the best' or whatever else.

thats all bullshit.

amsterdam is a beautiful, fun and exciting city. if you are at all interested in marijuana, spend a few days there. everyone i met there was pleasant and helpful. they met my american tourist ass with unparalleled kindness and i never felt unsafe or mistreated there for even a second. the smoke was top notch - anyone who says otherwise is just flailing their e-penis around for an audience. if you are respectful, responsible and self-aware you will have a fun time in amsterdam.

i loved Amsterdam! be sure to visit Europe's oldest pub, drink a beer and watch some football with the locals. i was going to try to pick up some herb in one of the shops, (we were just there one night and then onto the Eurorail to Deutsland), but I walked up to the bar (i guess they call it a bar :stoned:) and before we could even order this dude passes me and my buddy a j, i took one hit and kinda forgot where i was until we ended up in McDonalds at around 2:00 a.m. with what seemed like the rest of the city. :D

i also loved the Haufrahaus in Munchin, Deutsland. have fun.

You're gonna have a great time, my best piece of advice is don't forget to get a map. It's hard enough to find your way around with a map when you're stoned, without one you'll be screwed lol Oh and watch out for the cyclists, loads of them everywhere in the dam, listen out for them ringing their bells!

For good quality/good value weed in the centre try central coffeeshop just across the road from the train station, it's got a got atmosphere and cool budtenders. Personally I don't like the grey area, I've only been once but it was pretty depressing, VERY small, uncomfortable, the guy who was working there wasn't very friendly and worst of all the weed was terrible. Maybe I just went on a bad day, but i don't see what all the fuss is about. A couple other coffeeshops I think are worth a visit are obviousley Dampkring, it's a cool place but gets full very early on so don't expect a seat if you go in an evening. I like homegrown fantasy too, it's a nice place to chill and they've got good weed too.

well it's really about what you're into. I love seeing new places, meeting new people and generally being on vacation. It also is full of history and great art if that's your thing..from the Anne Frank museum to the Van Gogh museum

Amsterdam is almost entirely on water...canals everywhere all lined with incredibly beautiful brown, row houses. Bars and cafes are hidden in alleyways and all the streets are packed with locals and many tourists. Sure it's touristy, but it's that way for a reason...because it's awesome.

I work too much so for me Amsterdam is a great escape from reality. I really can't imagine anything better than sitting outside with a J and a pint of beer watching boats and hotties on bikes go by.

U should visit the cannabis college, they have a grow room downstairs and a big fuckin vape. Me and my mate blasted some northern lights in it. I'd also recommend this wee coffee shop called tweedys just round from vondel park, small place with a pool table that sells temple ball hash, fuckin awesome!

melkweg, sugar factory, are pretty cool clubs... try and stay away from the coffee shops in the centre, you'll find the best bud in out of the way shops... but as far as the big ones go, Rokerij is a good bet.

DO NOT FORGET TO GO TO FEBO!!! that shit is TOO AWESOME, don't forget to get the local cheeses and cold cuts... smoked Gouda.

The Hieneken factory also a good bet (I prefer Grolsch.) Don't forget museums like the rembrandt and van gogh...

Right now it'll be warm so you can check out the architecture.

And the girls there... ah... thats where the real fun begins... all dutch girls look like supermodels... I remember this one at the train station, she made me change for the bathroom... the rest you'll read in penthouse...

Try the Afghan Skunk at Tweedy's!
Cannabis College is the ONLY place you can see an official legal grow in Holland.
Don't bother with the 'sex museums'. If you want to see a sex show, go to one of the big ones like Casa Rosso.
Go see some music while you're there. The Melkweg and Paradiso usually have something good, or if you prefer, the Opera house usually has free performances, or the Concertgebouw is worth seeing if you can afford it.
To find the best coffeeshops in Amsterdam, get out and walk around! Go to the museums, and just follow your nose along the way!
I love Amnesia. It's where I usually start and end my days in A'dam. Great weed, Great hash, and friendly staff and atmosphere make it a place I keep going back to.
I agree that the Grey Area is small, uncomfortable, and sometimes downright unfriendly. But I still think their weed is excellent.
If you have enough weed and just want a chill place to smoke it, I recommend the Sensi Museum Coffeeshop. It's just around the corner from the Sensi Seed store, and the Hemp And Cannabis Museum, and just a little further from the Cannabis College. I like to get some weed from The Greenhouse (just a block away,), then sit in the Sensi shop and have a coffee and a blow.
There's a museum for everyone.
If you like ships, the Scheepvaart Museum is not far from Centraal Station.
If you like modern art, try the Stedelijk Museum.
If you like cats, check out the Kattencabinet.
Be sure to see the Bloemenmarkt on a sunny day.
Go to the AlbertCuypMarkt, and have some Stroopwaffels!
While you're there, look for coffeeshop Katsu. GREAT weed and hash. Try the Scooby Snacks if they have any, and the Bio Sage.
Take the fast ferry boat to the beach at Ijmuiden.
Take a train to Haarlem for the day, and check out Willie Wartel's Coffeeshop.
The shops in Haarlem usually have better weed and hash, and lower prices than most of the A'dam shops.
Utrecht is nice too, but the shops are friendlier in Haarlem from my experience.
Back in A'dam, when you get hungry, what kind of food do you prefer? I can recommend a lot of nice places. Most are kind of spendy, but a few are affordable and still great. Let me know what you like, and I'll have a lot more info for you.

I can't wait to go back. One day i'll hopefully work in the Grey Area, if not, one of the other coffeeshops, that's my dream. I finish my last exam on the 19th so after that i'll be free from education. Those red light girls are tempting to say the least lol. I love the tolerance. I gotta get out of London, it's a a nanny state gone mad. I want some OG Hindu Kush :D

What time are you guys going in November? Just booked a 200 dollar flight for November 3-7. I'm already meeting up with two separate groups of friends there, but would love to meet up for a blunt and a pint if any one is in the city on similar dates.

I went the same time last year and it was a blast. The weed wasn't as good as I thought it would be but that was because of one major flaw: no map! I did hours of research before I went, knew of every coffeeshop that other members(and sites on the Internet) had recommended - De Dampkring, Rokerij, Barneys, etc. - and I only got to visit those shops when I would stonerly stumble past them on my walks.

I ended up buying a majority of my weed from the Bulldog since it was the closest one to my uptown hostel, to only later find out that its one of the poorest quality(with highest profit) coffeeshops in the city! So now not only am I buying a detailed map when I get there, I'm coming equipped with step-by-step directions to over a dozen of the best coffeshops from the steps of my hostel.

A coffeeshop that doesn't get much praise is The Noon, excellent Blueberry Haze for a decent price and multiple glass bongs for your choosing! And a cool rasta-esque budtender, too.

Remember to bring valid I.D. such as a passport to every coffeshop. I was only 18 last time and only got carded twice, but one really hurt. A group of four of us, all aged 18-22, went into Barneys and the dick behind the counter wouldn't let us stay since my 21 year old friend didn't have I.D. He wasn't a dick because he carded us, he was a dick since he was a dick and didn't let one of us buy bud. He's probably been fired since then, hopefully.

Also, has anyone been to The Coin? Seems like a real nice menu but have never heard a thing about 'em.

Extra Suggestions: Wok to Walk, Waffles & Fry King!

I spent 6 months in the Netherlands for student exchange in the city of Alkmaar, about 35 min. by train from Amsterdam. Its a very nice city, has the old down town area, and a couple good coffee shops. I highly recommend Stepping Out, and get some of the Big Tops. I know this isnt a real strain, but its a different strain all the time, but it is also the best weed in the city all the time. Fridays the coffeeshop De Brug has happy hour from 4 to 7, buy 12â?¬ and get a 5â?¬ bag for free.

We went to Amsterdam about every other weekend, and the shops with the best selection were Barney's and Greenhouse. They have a lot of prize winning strains, but they are also expensive.

I saw that someone else recommended Utrecht. Another nice city, bigger than Alkmaar, but the good thing about these places is that the weed is cheaper. The money you spend on the train tickets will be saved in the lower priced weed and hash and drinks at the coffee shops.

Enjoy your trip!
