Hey All,
Im just starting up my first grow in years . My first indoor grow at all.
Every thing Ive grown before has always been from random seeds outdoor grown. I ve got some great results in the past outdoors, but I put this little closet together for a more permanent supply of personal smoke.

I'm growing Hash plant , from Mightymite seeds in vancouver. They also supply the donkeydick seeds and a few others that are pretty well known around here. Their Hash plant is suposed to be very harty so we'll see what happens.

So being that its my first indoor grow, please go easy on me ;)
...
i am looking for as many comments as possible , to get these beauties to their full potential.

Gonna post pics here in an hour or so , Im at week 2 from seeds.

Peace
J.

sorry im still new to posting pics on this site ;)

Here are the seedlings after 2 weeks from putting them in water. They all seem pretty strong to me. A few of them are not as 'strong' looking as the others, not quite so deep green in the growth, and a little curled under ?

The stems are fairly long , a few seem a bit streched out , not sure what to do about that or why.

They are sitting under 400 hps now. The soil is 1 part topsoil , 1 part vermacite, 1 part peat moss.

Im fertalizing with vedge. tea from my leaf compost for now, but in very small doses, usually just water.

So , everything looks OK to the pros ?

THANKS ..will keep you posted.

SO I think im having some seedling problems.

Here are some pics from tonight. Im a little worried about a few of them ...

Should they be 'bigger' by this point ( 2 weeks ) ? I have been doing the best I can to tend to them everyday. I really have the whole Karma 'thing going with them .

But this is my first garden at all . So im a bit of a noob and I think it might be showing now with my plants.

My soil mixture was 1 part vermecelite , 1 part peat moss, and 1 part soil from my outdoor garden...dont ask me why , I came up with that mixture with what i had ;)

I tested the ph of the soil last night with a garden ph tester and it read a littel below neutral (yellwish green color) Im worried that there are no nutrients in this soil though as its only 1/3 actual soil.

I just added some 1/4 strength Shultz nutrients last night by water....Should I be adding more nutirients to the soil ? Replant with better Soil ?

Or just chill out and let them grow ?

THANKS !

Your doing fine.

HPS is the prefered light for blooming, it will make the sprouts stretch a little. A 4' shop light with cool white or daylight lamps works good for seedlings for the first 4 weeks.

Dirt from the garden is not a great idea. You can introduce bad bugs and stuff. Transplant using potting soil mixture.

Thanks ! I have them under 400 hps right now with a fan blowing across the plants.

Im going transplant tonight into larger (final ?) containers, probably 2 gallon.

Im going to transplant in to ProMix/vermecitle ? Should that work ?

Should I add anything to the soil mix ? I can get seabird guano but its a little expensive ...

Alaska fish emulsion is cheaper , and Ive heard its quite good for vedg nutrients. I can also get sea kelp emulsion pretty cheap....Also gonna pick up a proper ph meter and thermometer today...

Thanks again :)

I use potting soil, vermiculite, perlite and worm castings. Think of maybe 3 gallon for a minimum size pot.

I also have had good grows with the kelp and fish emulsions. That's about all I used for outdoors.

There are many, many nutes and micro, macro nutes people use for growing and blooming mj. I don't think you need all that for a small grow. Just some nutes higher in P/K and lower in N for blooming.

you can pull those stakes, if ya want ... by the time the plants might need support, they will be in much larger containers ... nice grow

When I transplant tonight , Should I fill up with soil higher up the stem ?

Ive heard that can help with root devel. But dont want to screw anything up..

Thanks Again :)

From what I've read roots will grow from the stalk up to the seed leaves (the first round leaves). If you put soil much beyond that you run a risk of stem rot.

Yea I transplanted only up to an inch away from the first set of
leaves just to be sure

Transplant went well :) I flushed the old soil , and then they went in to ProMix Organic mix with extra peralite I added.

The roots all looked really healthy and white from what I could see along the edges.

So back to vedg. hopefully they will pick up the growth speed now :)

I'll post some pics this wekend.

Thanks !

Ok , so i'm at just over 2 weeks since they poped out of the soil.

They seem to like their new homes, even the runt is starting to grow fast. :)

I was wondering , How long should I leave them to vedgitate. I dont have a very large space , so I cant have huge plants.

How much do they grow after they start to flower ?

Should I go Scrog or Lst ?

Lots of questions I know ;)

Peace.

Hi All :)
Heres a bit of an update.

We're at 24 days now since the seed first felt water.

I have nothing to judge them by, but should they be bigger by this point ?

I just want to make sure that Im doing all I can to get the best ( fastest) growth.

I plan on getting 4 ladies out of the 10 seed, ( about 60% male is the norml right ?)

Out of the four, I plan on LSTing or Scrog to get a nice full canopy for my 400watt grow space of 4x2x6.

Id like to get a 1pd of personal, a set of clones to put outside this summer ,and the best lady out of the batch to make a nice bonzai
mother

SO thats the plan :) Hope it all goes well.

Thanks for the replies.

So Im having to leave for 4 days. I just watered very good. DO you think they will be fine without water for a few days ?

Thanks

Yeah they should make it. Raising the humidity might help with moisture evaporation but might also cause other problems.

Hey essence, they look like they've made quite a bit of progress over the last week. Don't know about anybody else's male/female ratio when they go into flowering but I usually get more females than males, so you may end up with a couple more females than you think. I had the same question scrog v lst and have decided to go with lst. The only reason being you start scrogging before flowering and as I've started from seed (same as you) by the time I find out the sex the males are gonna be hard to remove from the screen and they'll leave a lot of holes that will probably be hard to fill with the remaining females. It'll be a lot less hassle when you get some clones and know the sex and don't have to worry about removing the males.

yea I was thinking the same thing. I cant wait to get back to see the growth, gonna be about a week. When I get back Im going to start to tie 'em down .

Thanks

So growth was pretty good while I was gone but have a few Plant problems now.

I tied them down a bit last nght and noticed a bit of yellowing and crisped spots on lower leaves.

This plant has the worst of it for sure.

ok last night was a night of changes :)

FINALY got around to doing some ph testing. Even though I was stuck using one of those cheap testers with the little green pills . I did each test 3 times though and averaged the result, just because Ive heard these testers arent the greatest.

Anyways,
Water is @ about 6.8 - 7.0 But then when i tested the run off , it was around 6.0

It allso came out looking pretty brown ? the water runoff that is.

So anyways I flushed them all last night and managed to get a run off of about 6.2 .

I didnt add ANY nutes though yet , should I add nutrients direclt after the flush, or wait and let the plants chill till next watering to add 1/2 strenght Nutes ?

As well , I finally put a thermometer / hydrometer with the plants, I know I know should have done that WAY sooner. So the temp was over 90. So obviously I had the plants way to close to the lights , and not enough moving air.

So I rose the light , lowered the plants and have the temp now about 80. So thats better, but im going to need a few more small fans I think to move the air better.

So thats where Im at. Could adding thenutes raise the soil PH even more to get it nearer 6.8 ish ?

THANKS !

Here we are at about 6 weeks since germ. They are still pretty small in my eyes ?

BUT I have found what i think are 2 male preflowers ( one more suspect) and 1 female pre.

Thing is , I have to have this grow ready to come out of the ground around July 1st. So I'm thinking I should start to flower in a few days.

They still seem so small though ;) ...but those little stalks are tightly cramped with nodes. No streaching AT ALL on a few of them. Could that be why they seem so small ?

I 'm thinking of taking advantage of the 'strech' period ive been reading about durring flower to get some longer branches I can train around to fill things in. Do you think this will work ?

Thanks All

I am no pro, but I bet your heat issues caused the bushiness and your plants are plenty mature to begin flowering. I think your stated plans make perfect sense. Hopefully a more experienced grower will chime in.

Can't wait to see your results. Good luck!

Cool thanks , well I just tied them down again today, after the replant. I Am gonna vedge for another few days, maybe through the week not sure, and then on to 12/12 .

Ive heard about a 36 hour dark period before going to 12/12 ?

Cede2Weed
04-22-2008, 08:58 PM
I do not know about the 36 hours of dark pre-flower. I have read about it, but I believe the same stretching will occur under normal 12/12. Personally, until I have more experience, I will not be straying too far from conventional practices. I think you plants look great and would do enough research to be very comfortable with anything you do from this point forward.

Good look, looking forward to seeing those ladies fill out!
