View Full Version : Scale problems
I recently acquired a new scale which holds up to 400g with .01 increments.
I placed what I know to be a half eighth onto the scale (in the bag) and it read 3.4* (approx, the hundredth digit kept changing). The weight changed dramatically each different way I placed the bag onto the scale. Finally, I decided to take the bud out of the bag, and place it directly onto the scale. Only then did it come _close_ to being correct. I then proceeded to place an empty bag onto the scale, and it read approx .8 grams.
I've dealt with scales for quite some time, and have never experienced any problems.
What do you think?

I don't even know man, I'm blazed too.. I must be. I didn't even ask a question, did I? Besides the last one... I guess I'm just ranting at the incompetency of this scale.

Weigh a penny, if it's 2.5 grams it's correct, otherwise it needs to be calibrated.

a nickel should weigh 5 grams. and if im not correct isnt a half eighth 1.7? and the bag was .8 so that would be about what you got in the first place.?

Correct. You were saying you were getting different readings when you moved it, was it on the scale right? Try putting a plastic cup on the scale. Tare it up and then put your bag of weed in it. The cup gives a good contact point to the scale instead of a big fluffy bag.

Stop using scales that only weigh to a tenth of a gram look on ebay and invest in a scale that weighs to 2 decimal places at the least. and make sure that no part of the bag is touching anything but the scales weighing plate only!:stoned:

It does... You also dont need a hundredth scale at all. Use a nickel it weighs 5 g's if its off then you know which way and by how much.

You say atleast as if he should get a .001 scale is this a joke? Also when you say "invest" you mean get ripped off. Go to a wholesale scale website and buy a 20 dollar .1g scale. As long as you take care of it it will take care of you.
