Thats a question upon ive pondering during some time... and i still couldnt make my mind...
If you somehow learned that what we call "the real world" were not actually "real", "out there", but a Matrix-like thing, implying that everything you used to consider "real" were in fact an illusion, would you like to see it, to see how everything you deemed as real was only an illusion, to "get out of the matrix", or would you like to forget it forever and live your life as you always lived, considering everything as "real"?
(Or in the Matrix terminology, would you choose the red or the blue pill?)

I think at this point I'd go with the cowardly pill and live in the Matrix, because I have so much going for me.

But then again, if all of that isn't real, is it important at all?

Ok, if I am "the one", I'd get out of the Matrix for sure, but if I'm just an ordinary guy, I'd stay.

assuming everything is like the movie.. even if I was an ordinary guy I'd leave. I'd get to learn all kinds of cool things just by jacking in.

A world of information at your finger tips. All you have to do is upload the data to your brain.

If you believe in God and heaven etc then it is acceptable to think the world we are living in is an illusion or program.. Or something. In my opinion I think that this world is a purgatory however I tent to swap between beliefs now and then. I also think that drugs such as Mj and shroomz are a window to heaven or some divine world which lets us peer into the possibilities of life and the path that you should take to get there. :hippy:

kinda being sarcastic a lil bit yeah lol i dont see weed and shrooms as a path into heaven or view either religiously, well i've never tried shrooms but i've done class a drugs plenty of times, but to me theyre all just altering youre form of state but to me weed is the only one that really is fine to use on a daily base, you can smoke weed everyday but its not as bad as drinking everyday or using heavy drugs everyday

when i say class a i dont mean like smack but theres a striction to drug talk on this forum anyways so better stick to the ganja

That is a question I think about too, and I am pretty sure I would want get out of the matrix.

If you want to change your perspective of existance dramatically and metaphorically "step out of the matrix" for real, I suggest looking into the philisophical writing of david hume. He answers a lot of questions about what makes a certain individual an individual and bases all that we view as reality as the accumulation of data through the senses. Reality to him is a seris of cause and effect relationships between what we percieve and the combination of those observable cause and effects with our memory to create a sense of individuality. Its quite interesting stuff, and I am not sure if my brief and sloppy explanation makes any sense, so you may want to check him out for yourself.

*Warning* his book (Treatise of Human Nature) is written in a style that is pretty unusual and therefor difficult to understand, and it is a little long and boring at times, so if you dont think you have the discipline to force yourself to read his actual book, at least research the points he makes on the internet. It really is interesting stuff and essentially the basis for the theory of natural selection which is the current champion in the world of theories for the origin of man.

AGREE 100%

And on the original question - I'd take the truth over a lie any day. Even if the truth hurts.

I seek God. I believe the path to truth is not for the faint-hearted.

I can see how others might prefer comfort to curiousity, but I definitely don't agree. I push myself to do uncomfortable things on a regular basis - I believe it strengthens character.

So yeah. I'd take the red pill.

Well... when i said to "get out of the matrix", i meant to leave all illusions... so everybody who would get out of it just to make another matrix and go back to there would still be living in a world of illusions, so it would be the same as dont leave the matrix, no matter if the illusions were better or more pleasurable.
So, it seems very few ones would like to actually leave the matrix...

Well... while i never did read Hume, i did read a lot of another things which also debated the nature of reality... Platos cave, many buddhist teachings, and most Castanedas books, which were the ones which most influenced me... and, of course, Matrix the movie.
Also, some experiences with altered states of consciousness :rastasmoke: gave me a glimpse of different realities. :abduct:
