OK, I found a great cabinet to set-up in, and wanna get started ASAP. The only problem is, I am away from home sometimes 4 days out of the week. Would the plant be OK for those days without water or will they definitely die? What are my options? Thanks guys, as you can probably tell, I'm a complete noob!
If you want to grow, you kinda need to be there to check on them once a day.

it can definitely be done. itll have to be a nice soil grow. with soil youll be ok not watching over it everyday. however, the more you check up on them and tend to them the better they will be up to a point. what kind of lighting system are you going to be using? with cfl's the plants wont dry out as fast as HID. do you have any specific questions?

4 days is a looong time... temp control would be a must!! Id lean towards investing real well in ventilation (the number one spot newbies underinvest in anyway). And I like mushabooms sticking with CFLS to keep temps reasonable.
Other than that, itll kinda stink not being able to keep a close eye for nute problems and pests. But I think it could be done, especially if you're away at convienient times during your grow. :)

I actually haven't gotten to the point of researching lighting yet. I wanted to make sure it was possible before I went ahead and did all that. That being said, any suggestions for lighting in my situation? Also, from what I understand, the most vulnerable time for the plant is about the first month or so right? Thanks guys for all the help!
The size of your cab determines what kind of light you can have. Definitely don't germ anything until you get a light in there and make sure temperature is okay.
Seedling stage is when it's gonna be rough on the plants if you're not there very often. A small pot, with airy soil, will dry fairly quick. Also, since you're in a cab, the first few weeks of flowering is something to worry about since the plant stretches so much. It would suck to come back after a few days and find your plant has grown into the light and is getting burnt.

Alright, I'm very sorry for all of the newb questions, but this is my last one for the time being I promise! lol..What do you think would be the best soil to use given my watering issues and also what about regulating temperature? What can I do other than fans and whatnot to regulate it? Cost isn't an issue. Thanks again you're really helpin me out!
