By all accounts they are indeed legit and the glassware is really on the high-end side- Just amazing pieces; more like artwork than something I'd even want to have on the coffee table with all my blazed buddies. It's stunning though and I wish I had more $$$ :(
The sea creatures one in the gallery is my favorite piece I've ever seen!

Thanks a lot. And thanks for the move to the correct forum. I'm looking at one of the sherlock bubblers. It looks like something Sauron would smoke out of (the purple one) and I like it. I don't own much and honestly am not a heavy smoker. So to pull something like this out every now and again when I do smoke would be fantastic. I've got a few friends would LOVE to try it but I don't think I trust them with a 100.00 pipe. ;)

See local glass blowers aren't cheap around here. I got my gandalf for 50, my bubbler for 50 and my bong for 80. Put a rug down. If it's any quality, it should be able to survive hitting carpet. Hell my gandalf fell off my keyboard(Musical) and hit plastic leg on my rolling chair and didn't chip or crack at all.

Coming to terms with costs of pipes is rough. My first one was like an $8 metal pipe and we loved that little bastard. Now that I'm using a $120 bong (upgrades after the 80, diffuser downstem and ashcather) I just have to get comfortable with sharing and stop smoking with losers who will drop (and subsequently break) my pieces. And actually if you want to drop $100 for an installation piece, get an entry (box and whip style) vaporizer.

But as for pricing, if $100 for a bong sounds expensive, go price out Roor.

With something like a Roor, most of the price is in the name- the workmanship is solid laboratory-glassware style but unspectacular. I personally would not spend that kind of $$ on a mass-produced type piece. To be worth over $200 to me, a piece needs to be:
-Functional
-Unique
-Obviously handcrafted
-Show significant skill in the art of flame-work
-Local is a big plus

I can certainly appreciate that.

The thing about Roor and the like is that it's an aesthetic that perhaps you're not into. I personally don't care for those big colorful handblown bongs, they just look clunky and are super-heavy. But they both do the job well. You do pay a lot for the Roor name but they do make the nicest hyper-modern designs. Sometimes you get lucky though and find some really nice local stuff and I agree, if you can buy local, it's far better.

I think it really depends on what kind of hippie are you?

The Barak Supporting, futuristic hippie
or the
Willie Nelson Ron Paul hippie.

Feel free to insert any post modern cause in substitute of Barak.

lol! I'm a Dennis Kuchinich hippie. I don't have a ton of $$ to spend and usually make my own pieces from glass vases and parts from the head shop.

The lab-glass ones remind me too much of work... I look at that shit all day and don't need the reminder... haha!
Some of the handblown stuff is too 'busy' for me. Streamlined and simple is the way to go IMHO. Quality, plain, skilled glasswork over sloppy intricacy any day.

Check out some ph(x) pieces if your into bongs. Its kinda preference, and a local shop has to carry them because they dont ship... but ph(x) is pretty much the shit. I have a trinity and I LOVE it. Watch some youtube videos with the ph(x)s
