Couple Claim They Acted Under State Law

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- An El Dorado County couple were sentenced to five years in federal prison Wednesday for growing and selling marijuana, U.S. Attorney McGregor Scott said.

Dr. Marion "Mollie" Fry, and her husband, Dale Schafer, were convicted in August.

Fry and Schafer were charged with growing and selling in their hometown of Cool.

They claim they were acting under state law.

Schafer said his wife was targeted by the federal government after she prescribed marijuana to patients under the Compassionate Use Act of 1996.

Fry, who was diagnosed with breast cancer, said she used marijuana to treat the side effects that were a result of her chemotherapy sessions.

It is a proven scientific fact that THC has many Medicinal uses
I just can't understand why people in our own government
would arrest and put good productive citizen's in prison
I feel the whole states legalizing MMJ and the government not legalizing it was just a scam so the government could get your info and put you in prison working pretty good huh:wtf:
ask yourself how long will it be till they come too arrest you!!

Very conservative area. One thing that was told to me was that these people grew 20 plants at a time.....the DEA busted them for 20i-ish plants several times over a five year period because they were allowed to count all the plants together as one grow. In other words they were busted X amount of times with 20ish plants at time. Over a five year period those busts added up to over 100 plants. There was never a point.....as I understand it......that there were 100 plants on the property at once.

I found this a very interesting bit of information.....but I cannot offer any solid proof of it. This and the judge's reaction to sentencing were two points of this entire thing I found to be definitely worth noting.

Sad that even in California there wasn't atleast one person who sat on the jury that didn't have personal experience with medical mj patients.
