Any thoughts here guys? A storm just blew over and knocked my seedling over in its pot. It only had the two initial leaves on it, but it is a good plant. The stem snapped about an inch below the leaves and is hanging on by a thread. What to do. Cn I bury it up to the cotyledons and hope it doesn't rot??
Thanks

Take a popsicle stick or a few toothpicks and form a splint where the two broken ends meet, and tape it up like a bandage. If it broke in half, and has remained separated for a little while... there's a good chance that at least the upper portion won't make it. If there's enough foliage on the bottom half, it should pull through fine.

Hate to hear about your sprout getting wounded.
From what I have read, it is OK to bury it to the cotyledons.
I have never had this problem, YET.
I believe you will get roots not rot.:D
GOOD LUCK

You will get rot, not roots. The plant at that stage, does'nt have it what it takes to reproduce roots. But when healthy at seedling stage can PRODUCE roots, but not reproduce them.Prop the plant up with a skewer,or small stick. If it turns brown then black around where it was wounded, then it's too late. That sucks!!!! Sorry Dawg!

Come on, 3 different threads on ONE TOPIC?
Breaks below the seed leaves are virtually always fatal. Start over.

Sorry for the 3 threads on that one. I bugged out. Thanks for the help, but i think its a goner. all that is left is a nice healthy stem about 3" long. Will it sprout new leaves?

That's a BIG NOPE! Start over like Stinky suggested! It's a lost cause now! Did you buy the beans or save them from a sack, you liked?
