haha no, it is not. I was suprised however to see how much light did pour through. Mylar is a bitch. Hopefully it's done well enough to ensure proper light to the plant.

Hey guys, I have a little update.
My one plant I had started as a seedling lost one of it's first true leaves mysteriously but continued growth without it. I decided to leave it be but started a couple other seedlings and will pick from the strongest eventually. Here are some pics.
One of the CFL's in the box is dead. I'ma fix the bugger soon.

aw how cute I had a sunflower seedling in my cab, but I was careless and knocked it over and I'm pretty sure it died. Better the sunflower than my bubblelicious babies.
good luck on your grow looking great :D

I've never grown a sunflower, thought it might be interesting haha. Im sorry for your loss but a little jealous of your great strains. That blueberry should be awesome. Ive been keeping an eye on your grow, keep up the good work.

Unfortunately just some bagseeds from some good green bud I had. O well, maybe next grow buy some nice strains.

(It literally takes me two seconds to do this so, even if it is a tad excessive, I think the documentation in the long run will be sort of interesting. I am smart enough though not to love my plants too much...no attachments here  )
Any advice at anytime would be much appreciated... Should I start nutes for the older guy yet?

Well, I got a cheap little digital thermometer and found inside the rubbermaid it was high 80's-low 90's. Too hot. I switched the exhaust fan with a stronger one I had laying around. It's down to 75. My plants have some deformities though...curling leaves? Heat stress. Also as you will see in the picture, one of my plants has discoloration of the leaves I haven't seen before.
Expertise anyone?

You were getting up to the 90s with that big ass fan house fan in the top? I'm doing a rubbermaid set up too. How many CFLs do you have in there? I've got 5 in mine right now, with just a little computer fan to cool it, and I'm still around 82 usually. I haven't stacked my tubs yet, I was just planning on getting another fan. I figure double the box size and double the fan. Now I'm thinking that it might now be enough?
As for the discoloration, I looked it up in my new library, and it says its one of two things, too high heat or chemical burn, so I'm guessing its too high heat, though I can't attest to your nutrient mixture.
Man, your plants are pretty crazy looking! Any idea what strain you got going there? The one in the top right looks more like a mushroom, and the middle one reminds me of a rosebud.

Well the mushroom looking one your referring too, that's my basil : ) haha. They seem to be some indica strain. Shorter broader leaves. Currently I have 166watts in the box going. I should have more. I think im going to buy a new fixture. I'm just using those clamp light things - minus the clamp. It's ghetto. I can't wait till it gets warm so I can put some of these babies outside. Also, it was probably heat stress. I haven't started any nutes yet.

Has anyone here considered cutting a hole in the bottom of the Rubbermaid tub and dropping the plant's pot down into it? You would have to support the rubbermaid tub with something just as tall as the flower pot, but it seems to me as though you would have much more room in the growing tub than if you had a big flower pot inside it.
Also...
Good or bad idea:
Place a tub of dry ice near the intake as a poor man's version of co2...

If I understand you correctly, the problem with that would be light leaks. Inefficiency.
I've never heard of using dry ice for Co2 emmision in a grow room. You should try asking that question somewhere else, this thread is not very popular haha.

Yeah, In Jorge Cervantes' Grower's Bible, theres a section on using dry ice and it says that it's much more economical for a small grow operation than a co2 container. What you need to do is put it into some sort of insulated box and poke holes in the top. This will slow down the melting significantly. Two pounds of dry ice will melt in about 24 hours just sitting out. You can probably make it last for a week in one of those cheap styrofoam coolers. It might also help with temps.

The new nodes on my plants seem to be covered by the larger fan leaves. Does anyone have any advice or experience in promoting stretching to allow more light to the innernodes?

Ditched the rubbermaid, too small. Transplanted 3 of my plants into 4 gallon pots. I still have them under CFLs until my new 400watt hps light comes.
I have a Hortilux 600watt enhanced spectrum bulb laying around my house, could it even work in my 400watt system?
Anyways - Updated pics -

Nice plants. I asked the same question about a 400 in a 600 and it will not work, you have to match ballast and bulb.

Well HTG had me a little worried. They sent an email thursday saying my order has been processed and they will notify me upon shipping. Well, I checked all weekend and no luck, I figured they didn't ship of weekends. Well, Today I look outside my door and here it is. I was pretty pleased.

Temps are up to 88.7 and I'm a little worried. HTG supply sent me a better more expensive model on behalf the one I ordered (half the price) was out of stock. : ) Well, now i have the option of buying some sort of air cooling accesories. I'm trying as hard as I can to not cut any holes in walls or closet doors seeing I am in a brand new home. Is there any other ways to keep the temperature down a couple degrees?

What I've been doing is freezing three 2 liters filled with water and keeping them in rotation on front of my fan, it has been bringing down the temps in my box considerably.
