It is the 17th, but I'm leaving for Texas tomorrow. My 26 yr old son is having open heart surgery Monday. :(

It's normally on the 17th, but something about the pope not wanting it to clash with some holy event so he changed it to the 15th, today. So happy St. Pat's.

The pope changed it because this year it falls on "holy week", for the first time since 1940. It's up to individual communities as to when they want to celebrate it.

New York City is going to have the parade on March 17th, as it always has been.
