View Full Version : Think I'll make my 40lb/per year goal?

So here is my setup the mothers are growing so I haven't ran through it yet but soon I will be taking some clones.
I have 2 1k flowering rooms and a mother clone room. I have 2 400watters for the mothers & for the clone room T5s. Each room has a 430cfm fan with carbon filter also each room has a regular fan from walmart in them. All the rooms are painted flat white. They each have an intake pipe from the window and vent to the attic. All lights are digital and the flower rooms have light movers. I am going to take 80 clones and put 40 in each flowering room. The strain I am using is White Russian selected for potency and quantity. My calculations are 80 plants total X 1.5-2 ounces per plant X 6 harvests a year = 720-960 ounces the same as 46-60lbs a year so even if I am low of my goal I'm still high.

Don't think of it as a 'per-plant' goal; think of it as a 'per-watt' goal.
Ask yourself- like a mantra- is every watt I pay for going to the MOST EFFICIENT use?
The first thing that I see you could change is to redistribute some of your lighting watts.
When you plan your veg/flower lighting, think of the minimum veg watts to fill the maximum flowering room. This is widely considered to be a ratio approximately 1:3. You can take one of your MH 400 lamps and toss it in the flower area, or into ANOTHER room, where plants in early flower are placed before their final re-pot, crowded under the intense blue light, to control stretch for the 2 weeks before significant budset occurs.
I'm assuming your T5 fixture is about an equivalent to a 100w HID, just for calculations' sake. So it's 1:2.2 (low) vs 1:4.8(too high), or you could take that T5 fixture and add THAT to your mothers and drop down to far fewer watts in your clone area- a couple shop lights are ample. Or you could just add another lamp to your flower room(s) and try to get more FLOWERING watts, where your product comes from. Anyway there are plenty of ways to do it. For comparison, I run about 500w equivalent (my Hortilux 400 daylight MH is the craziest thing ever- I thought for the longest time the grow shop guy was running a freakin' K halide over his vegetable display table, lol! Efficiency, babeee!) in veg to 2400 of HPS in flower. It's not perfection, but it's getting better every time I move shit around.
Okay so now we have the light arrangement out of the way and will look at your goal, since now we have some increased efficiency ideas.
2000w HPS x 12 months x 0.5g = 12,000g = 428oz =26lb. That's all she wrote. That's assuming very high efficiency USING that light, and no problems all year. Add CO2 to that equation and bump the number up significantly.
I always assume a good solid crop failure per year (trust me it happens, maybe not all at once, but lots of things can go wrong and I like to think of a 'grow year' as more like 10 months of grow time, rather than 12, lol.
Hope that helps a smidge.

26 lbs is optimistic. Though possible I wouldn't count on more than 15 to 20 lbs because .5gram per watt is about as good as it gets and I've seen 2 folks doing the exa ct same regimen get wildly different yields.

what do you think i should be able to do. ive been thinking about my setup currently three lights 100w mh i got over mothers works nice, could get about three in. from bulb no burn and short compact node growthother lamp is 250 w 100 t5 and 150hps ive been cloneing under t5 till root then switch with mothers turn on hps with t5 and they stretch out nicely then to flower room where i have a 400w hps for flowering and iwas wondering if i should try to flower in cycles to finnish half every month and replace them in my flowerroom is4x4 90% reflective walls i also rerouted my water heater exhaust though garden it warms room slightly and adds co2 when ever i run hot water. should ijust fill my room all at once or do youthink rotation is better and if i fill room at once i can add the 250 lamp at least until i need to clone again but iwill have 250 more watts for first four weeks. thoughts, suggestions.

Plus your not going to have 6 harvests a year. 2 months for vegging and flowering ain't enough.

what size containers are the plants going to be in?
Will the light even be able to reach them?

I was thinking I will take clones have them under t5's for 10 weeks then into flower for 10 weeks. when those clones go into flower I will take 80-100 more clones to veg under t5's until the others finish flowering. That way the mothers have about 2 months to regenerate more branches for clones, the clones veg 2 months under t5's, and then flower 2 months under the 2kHPS.
