Bong: So wonderful. It's really a treat to use this because there's a really nice ritual in place. I have a couple different options in this category for different moods. Typically though I use a glass liquid top with a diffuser and ash catcher that is about 18" high. It really does the trick though it's major downfall is obviously storage/hide-ability (Something I don't really worry about) and cleaning. Cleaning a bong isn't TOO hard but you DO have to do it occasionally and it does take some time, salt and rubbing alcohol. The worst part is cleaning that little glass screen.

Chillum: I just got two of them. A good sized glass one (about the same bowl size as the protopipe) and one that looks like a standard marlboro red. These are kinda my unexplored frontier but it seems like my issues that I had in my head are still the same. It's way easier to not spill when the bowl is pointed UP rather than out. Also, it's so direct that you do get a lot of bits of ash in your mouth when using it. You can use these as an emergency bowl (in zzDank's case) if your bong breaks and they're pretty easy to hide.

Spoon/sherlock: Ok, let me clarify, I don't have a typical 6" or less glass spoon. I have a wood guy that's transformable and a long gandalf (like 16" or so) and then all of my others are metal which is a different category. They're really nice, have a classic feel to the smoking technique which is important to me. There's a nice ritual with it (similar to the bong) where you poke at it and stir it while you're using it. They're hard to beat because they're so damn consistent. I've used a few though that were really more for show because the carb was placed funny. Also, I'm right handed when it comes to a pipe so I hate when the carb is put on the right side. But these vary so wildly that you can ALWAYS find something you love in this category plus they tend to not be huge thus making them easy to carry and hide.

Minibong/Bubbler: I made these the same category because I have a converted Vial (not homemade) that functions like a sherlock. The upside is the portability with water filtration. They are super-tough to clean compared to the others in my opinion so I tend to drift away from them. My mini you can take the water storage off to clean separately though. You also have to change the water a lot with these little guys but if you really like water filtration and not letting any ash though, this is a great choice.

Metal: This is always a double-edged sword. Metal is where you find really cool gadgets and really cheap pipes. My first pipe was a little metal guy. I have 3 little metal pipes right now and they're all 100% gadgety. I have the protopipe AKA the swiss army pipe which is fantastic for carrying a good 3-4g ground up and having a poker. Not to mention the fact that everything you need to clean it is included. It's pitfall though is that it is not self-igniting like my Solopipe. This thing is an engineering marvel though the bowl really only holds about .6g and there's no storage. It's a functioning lighter though so I tend to have this with me even if I'm using something else like my Budbomb which has the helix insert which swirls the smoke and cools it off. It's fantastic though you do have to put a screen in it (the other two have screens already) and it only holds about 1g in it's bowl. It's easy to clean but you'll clean it a lot. All of these metal pipes though are steel or brass and they taste like it. I do tend to prefer the taste in the right mood though so if you're not using aluminum ones, you're fine and may really love it.

Joint: I suck at rolling em but I have a machine now that does it. They're ultra portable, and ultra-cheap. The major pitfall to the joint is that you do waste a little bit:rasta:as you can't snuff it out like my metal pieces (I keep a marble around for the glass) Also, papers have a taste and you have to like the taste of those. As for taste, nothing beats glass. I just 12" papers and I'll tell you this, it was a lot of fun rolling that bad boy.

Blunt: I came up smoking blunts because my rapper friends seem to like them. I used to smoke cigarettes (2packs a day) so I don't really like em anymore because I crave cigarettes with these. They're wasteful of weed like a joint but taste more like a spliff. If you're a tobacco smoker, you'll have a stronger appreciation for them obviously. They're not as cheap as joints but admitedly, I prefer the taste blunts to most papers. (I prefer hemp over rice paper)

Vaporizer: I have two, the hot plate and the convection wood box style. I love them and they work wonderfully. The convection works a lot better and it's digital so I have a lot of control over the temperature (and thus the high produced). The major pitfalls is that you wind up with a lot more leftovers (Unlike ash) and they are the opposite of stealthy. They make great installation pieces in the right home though.

Edibles: Totally different high. Very easy to conceal and transport. The major pitfall is that you need a lot to make most recipes.

Home-made/other: Waterbongs/waterfalls and steamrollers are most what I was thinking and I used to be into making things though nowadays, I prefer to have nicer looking pieces. The one counter to this though is the paper towel roll steamroller with a chillum. That's a nice way to use it. The apple thing sounds like a lot more trouble than it's worth and the coke-bottle steamrollers with aluminium screens taste pretty gross. The Soda can method is good if you use a really fine pin though. I used to use that method for Salvia but still, it's aluminium. The major upside is that a successful home-build is quite an accomplishment. I remember we made a super-hookah out of 2 fish tanks, a dust buster, a toaster, duct tape and some aquarium hosing. Though you have a big mess to deal with after you build.

when im chilling at my house i always smoke my bong, but when i'm out i smoke blunts. Before i bought my bong i used to just smoke weed like a ghetto black person (rolling multiple nick and dime blunts per day) but now when i go out i'll smoke only a couple of gram blunts or larger ones if i have the money or the connect. Even though a bong maximizes the use of the weed, there is nothing more relaxing and fun than smoking a few blunts with my friends while driving down the road (with lil wayne blasting thru the speakers of course.)

Bubbler. It's the only glass piece that I have. I will smoke joints if I had the ability to. Joints smell too much because of the constant burning, but if I use my bubbler I can divide the hits in between a couple minutes to keep my high steady and not to stink up the flat.

I have a hookah but I just don't use it for weed.

I'm quite surprised that I got so many responses.

I must be the only one that likes the taste of steel.

The metal pieces with lids are GREAT for snuffing the flame and not stinking up the place. I use a large hand made marble to snuff out the bowl of my Gandalf (long ass spoon) and my bong.

Lately, I've been using the Chillum and long long papers (12") But my vaporizer is an installation on my coffee table.

Doesn't look like anyone who's using a pipe really posted. I was curious who was using wood/stone/glass/something else.

But here's where we all win.
1. Every method has a wonderfully different ritual to it. Packing anything is a good time. The hookah has that coal that you poke around with plus the covering of the mouthpiece when not inhaling. Joints and blunts have the rolling ritual. Bowls have carb methodolgy. Bongs have the slider to pull out. My metal pieces all have snuffing rituals where you hit it and cover it up. The Solopipe has a wonderfully fun tilting technique to control the flame. Even cleaning can be kind of a fun ritual.

2. Every one can potentially turn into a story. I named my 24" blue bong Deep Blue because one night we were smoking it and set it on the coffee table in with my electronic chess set. It looks like I'm playing it and in the middle of an epic power struggle I beat it once and it beat me after...just like Kasprov and Deep Blue, the IBM machine that was proven to be unbeatable (They made upgrades to the code when he won the first time. Noone's been able to beat it since) Or there's always stories of giant blunts/joints.

3. They all WORK! Yes some use more than others and some produce slightly different effects (IE Vaporizing vs Eating vs smoking a J vs a Bong) but they all get you high.

I have four or five steamrollers. I'd rather not smoke out of anything else. My glass steamroller doesn't taste as good as my acryllic ones. It gets resinated faster and it doesn't clean as easily.

I like a steamroller because you can control the burn easier than other methods. It gives me pure, huge hits.

Vaporizer here (volcano).

I started off smoking joints and then pipes and then bongs/gravity bongs.. etc etc.

The harshness of the smoke was a factor for me. I don't particularly like coughing and I don't really like taking baby hits either.

Another thing was that I didn't want to constantly drop like $300 on an oz of good stuff to put in a pipe.

So instead I bought a volcano. It literally will make shwag seem like you're smoking dro, and will make dro seem like some new space age technology.

I like my volcano so much I'm contemplating buying a vapezilla (whip system instead of bag) and aso getting a portable vapolution.

Most of the time when i'm at a friends house and they're lighting up some mids in a pipe, blunt, bong or what have you. I turn them down most of the time. It just doesn't compare.

It's like someone giving you a medically sterile platinum spoon to eat with and then you go to your friends house and they give you a moldy 4 month old plastic spork.

Maybe I've just never smoked out of some of the nicer pieces.

On a side note though I do like steam rollers too. Nice big hits.

Honestly, Steam Rollers make me cough so much that I even ignored them in the poll...sorry.

As a side note to the vape guy though, I have a whip style and it's fantastic. Definitely a different experience than any pipe or bong I've ever encountered.

The only thing that comes close is a 12" joint.

OH ok, but honestly, the functionality is identical. If anything, those are closer to a single hose hookah.

So are we going to agree that the difference between a water pipe and a bong is that the mouthpiece on a bong is a continuously rigid piece that continues down to the water?

Roor makes some stuff like that too and I think they're just minibongs. I honestly put them in the same category as bubblers (though your pieces are probably large enough to qualify for the hookah/other category) By the way, my buddy gave me a tiny version of what you've posted that is about the size of those camera film canisters.

I know we're not supposed to talk about Homemade devices, and mods, if you are going to remove it, please remove the offending post (and this one because it's in responce to) but we should keep the thread as it's really one of the more active threads I've seen since joining.

I want to point out the last 2 homemade posts were really higher quality than "Dude, look at my aluminum foil and pen pipe"

Maybe we should have a sub-topic of homemade and have someone moderate it to filter out dangerous/stupid designs?

i use a popper/yottie currently since i gotta stretch my stash for the next month or two until i begin overlapping harvests of multiple plants.

i use a one hitter most of the time. its small (i got the cig version, metal, short version, even tho i have a glass cig one hitter, and a long metal cig one hitter. i had a clear glass one hitter but i dunno where it went.), its ultra portable, and they hit hard for something that packs so little. i havent weighed out a bowl pack, but my cig i think holds maybe .2-.3 max, yet two bowls and im gone, yet i smoke everyday, all during the day. i keep my weed in the lil metal keychain pill containers you get at convinence stores, it holds about an 8th ground up, pretty conveniente. and due to the one hitters design, (seeing as how dugouts are made for one hitters, and hold weed (i have one, they are wundebar) you simply dig the one hitter in the weed section to fill it. same thing works with the pill container. dig the one hitter in, and its packed. quick as all. very little smoke escapes, and if done right, they can hit you so hard you puke!(ive had two friends puke hard from my one hitter, and not from sucking down ash or weed). also, they resonate. if mine backs up, i may go to hit the bowl and end up with a ton of lightbrown, and dark black resin, all of which can be smoked! talk about conservation! if i smoke only one hitters, and i smoke one bowl every hour to keep a buzz going, i get 5 hrs from one gram! and when buying mids, i pay $70 per/oz, and seeing as how smoke little i can make an oz last a month! not to mention kief screens and kief grinders, you can always make your weed last just that much longer.

i also have a glass bowl. thick, blue, shaped like a phallus (everyone mentions it, its sad) but the bowl really hits hard. i dont use a screen, i let it resonate up. i use my glass bowl at friends houses (because the one hitter is so small, i hardly ever let others use it for fear of ganking/losing it). carb, deep bowl, packs at least .9-1.0g. the taste from glass is alot better, and smoother/cooler than metal bowls. i also had/have two glass chillums. one was stolen, but i know its at his house, i just havent seen it) and the other is with a friend. the latter, is clear, with blue bands near the bowl, and as it resonates, it goes from clear to blue with silver in it. reminds me of a crackpipe. the stolen one was my alltime favorite, and i dont wanna talk about it. i may cry T_T.

metal bowls are awesome. my first was metal, and i still buy metal, mainly because of how many variations you can have with your bowls. my favorite are the chambered bowls, where you can put weed in the stem, and it resonates as you smoke. very cost-effective if you dont mind the resin taste. plus, if you have more than one, and like a certain piece from one, but like the bowl from another, most can be interchanged to make the bowl YOU think is perfect. simply marvelous. but, on the otherhand, they do tend to heat up quickly, which can be bad with multiple heads chiefing.

stone pieces are VERY, VERY awesome. it seems they chill out the smoke, makes the hit smoother, and they are alot harder to break (which is a plus for some of you stoners).

wooden pipes are fun, i had one not too long ago. my lighter singed my bowl and i ended up smoking the bowl, literally. fun, but not something that id wanna do on the regular.

cant say anything about vapes, never used one. want to tho.

gas masks! fun fun fun. watch your eyes tho, it will burn if the mask covers the eyes and your eyes are open. tons of smoke, and very little smoke loss if you can handle it. great way to get fucked up at a party, or at a friends house!

My choices...

Bong- effective delivery of that good sleepytime medicine. Good for us impatient types who just HAVE to try the bud the moment it is dry enough to burn, lol.

Spoon-bowl- I like 'em for show but unless they are at least 6" long, I find that the hot smoke just isn't all that enjoyable. Oh- and the burning of the eyebrows thing- lol that's always a joy.

One-hitter- Actually both of mine hold a few hits' worth. Sleek and easy to clean. Bonus, fits nice in my fishing tackle box.

Carb-less pipe- I like my ~8" straight glass pipe for just sitting there and puffing on on those rainy days when I've got a good book to get through.

Joint- Travelling with glass is just asking for trouble. I can't roll for shit, but hey, ugly joints get you just as happy as pretty ones, just more embarrassing if your snobby friends notice.

Edibles- Heh heh heh. Chocolate ganache truffles FTW. I like the long duration and gentle effect of a nicely-dosed chocolate. I aim to make them so that one is effective against anxiety, 2 starts to have some 'high' feeling to it, and 3 truffles is your ticket to THE MOOOOOOON!

Not to go in a negative direction but listen:

I put blunts on the list, I'm pretty sure there's more than one vote for that. If not, maybe you should be the one rethinking the site.

And, I've smoked enough blunts to take up cigarettes to calm the nicotine cravings at work so don't get so high and mighty on your tobacco rolled joints. They're nice if you want to tear through 3g in one sitting (at least how I roll em) where a vaporizer, bong, bowl and any metal piece is far more efficient. Blunts are fun but a waste. It's nice when you have the extra:rastasmoke:and don't mind burning your money needlessly.

But let's get back on a positive note, I think this thread should get a sticky as it's one of the more active threads and gives users a good feeling as to what others are using at a glance. If i were a mod, I'd delete your negative post and my negative reply.

Also, it's on. Before the night's out, the collection is getting photographed to show you the myriad options that are more efficient than a blunt. And the buds to point out that it's fine if I waste a little bit. 24 hours. Get your cam ready.

Yeah,I bought a blunt wrap to try myself,only smoked a blunt once(didnt like it).
But I bought a blunt wrap and a blunt roller,cause it looked good,lol.But I ended up rolling a fatty,and after the first few puffs,I put it out.It took alot of weed,I could have packed a lot of bowls for that one blunt.
I think blunts are probably good with a group of people.But not for me.I just dont like it.Probably cause I dont smoke tobacco.
