Anyone have issues with math? Math sucks all forms of ass imo, I'm sure theres a few ppl out there that like this stuff...how I have no idea...

I'm transfering to a university and just found out that my D in calc isn't good enough. Has to be at least a C to be accepted... but here's the messed up part, had I taken that class at the univ, and passed it with a D-, yes, a D- not a D which I got they would have accepted it. Isn't that murphys law? I've never been good in math so there goes my bachelors...

Re-take Calc at a local community college. It's not bad the second time around... ;) Well, unless you're a slow math-uptaker like me... I had to take calc like 3 times before I 'got' it, and the second time, I failed so miserably I was actually kicked out of college. I'm not making this up. Good luck, don't give up, college is wicked rewarding on a lot of levels.

lol...this was at a community college....once in class, once online. neither were good to be accepted. Sooo yea...:wtf:

But I'm glad it's rewarding to someone, it's been hell my entire life. From graduating HS late, to transfering colleges 3 times (each time something wasn't accepted so I had to retake at their college) and no, not from bad grades, just because "it doesn't 100% match our class so we can't take it" I have moved a lot...

sorry about the MATH

Math is truely a numbers game
many differnt calculatory problems to solve

kinda like life

math is infinity

suck up the Math dont fight it

when your 50 it' will b different
once you learn it you will never forget the formula

eat5 sleep and drink the numbers, count the frosted flakes in your cereal bowl one
by one, then give each peep a flake

6 billion X 34 trillion then cut that

lol

good luck

Never give up.

Half of the problem is finding the way. The other half is following the path to the end.

Sometimes it takes a little creativity to see how to accomplish something.

Take a good hard look at your priorities and how you spend your time and energy, too. Sometimes fun things have to be put on hold in order to accomplish goals - I don't know your whole situation but that's a good reminder for everyone.

i sucked at math but i took a bunch of it anyway.
did bad sometimes but... it does feel good when it 'clicks.'

and usually its a lot easier than you make it out to be. you have to let go of all the negative stigma and dislike you have for it and just try to learn without all that bogging you down...
took me a few semesters but i ended up passing (and even doing well in) some calcs and linears and difficult economics math classes.

and i majored in ENGLISH !! so if i can do it anyone can, haha.

Man... after talking with lots of people who disliked math (as well as physics, chemistry, and the sciences in general), i noted that most of them disliked this subjects because they couldnt see any sense in it, and only memorizated the formulae without undertanding its meaning... so, of course it can make any subject awful... and i blame the teachers for it. They also dont know enough of the subject to make the students understand all the logic and meaning behind it, and just push all the formulae to the students memorize...
My advice (being an ex-teacher myself) would be to try to find someone who could explain you WELL, someone who would able to make you understand math, to see all the beautiful underlying logic and sense that exists behind it... im sure if you get a GOOD teacher that make you understand it, you wont dislike it anymore.
So, good luck!

Math sucks, I have serious issues with math.

I am actually in college and in high school I never made it past Algebra 1.

I got tested for a math learning disability and found out I in fact do have a disability and do math at the 8th grade level.

Which means now in college I can either get math WAIVED completley and substitute it with something else...or I can get some special help.

Still have to talk to the people at school about it...but if I have to do math in college I will never make it...

So keep your head up, there is many options..talk to you schools disability services, they are willing to work with you more than likely.
..oh and to get into college without having the high school math part done I opted for community college with a transfer...and it was no sweat.

i feel i am at odds with most people whove already posted. I like math the most out of any other real subject in school, followed by chemistry. The only math i didnt like was geometry, and that was just because proofs for triangles sucked. I think i enjoyed calculus the best though, and i really think it has to do with the teacher, i have for the most part had teachers i liked, and my calculus teacher was also my precalculus teacher, but she has so far been my favorite teacher ive had. Calculus for us was really fun, and i dont know how, but she had a gift for teaching us. To put how good i am at calculus to the test i got a 4 on my AP test for Calc 1/AB, and on the placement test for the community college i went to i went into the test without any sort of calculator except the one on the computer screen which is a even less powerful than the calculator that comes on windows, and still got a 74 on the college level math, which is calculus, where most people get in the 20 range, so im sort of a math guru, it just comes naturally, but english, now that is a whole other subject, i didnt know what adverbs and the such were until i was in 7th grade, and i looked them up cause i was tired of feeling like an idiot. the sad thing was that we learned the parts of speech in 3rd grade, and i made it to 7th before learning them, and no one knew, but thats public schooling in an agricultural county for you. we get out for the county fair because so many people miss school on the livestock judging day.

yeah it really sucks. all grades are a's and b's then bam d. I should check into that and see if somehow they will take it. Because I'm with you Tallulahgreen I swear my brain isn't wired to do any sort of math other then +-/x. But damn it's crazy to hear ppl say they like math...jimmy how do you do it man? want to make some $$? lol
Actually i should find someone I know that knows this shit, because I can retake it online and that could be anyone doing it, it's 100% online lol.

I'm 100% native fluent in spanish from living abroad but math, whole nother story. I have been having nightmares about formulas and stuff lately, probably because it's what's on my mind when I'm crashin out....that's just not right ya know lol:wtf:

i mean, the best part of calculus to me, was the fact that it was an AP class, so the atmosphere was very relaxed, out of an hour and a half class 45 minutes was spent doing about 3 problems, and the other 45 was spent going over the problems, the cool thing was that we could talk in the middle of the problems to each other, and the classes went by really quickly, cause you loose yourself in the problems. The only sucky part was waking up about 1.5 hours early every other day during AP review to practice for the AP test, i think that when it is still dark outside that it is way to early to go to school. everyone should go to school for 3 months at 6:30 in the morning so they know what stupid really is.
