Okay people! I never get paranoid when it comes to cops and shit. I also live in Canada and we are not normaly sent to are death for smokin a little weed. On Saterday night it was my boyfriends birthday and we went to a club so he could jam with a band he knows.

So he does not smoke, I go outside with my friend to puff a fat one We go around the corner of the club half way through the joint and she goes in the bar, I'm standing there somoking & choking away and around the corner comes 3 cops!

Well fuck me! I nearly suck the rest of the joint down my throat :eek: I did the whole Ummmm, Errrrr, Uhhhhhhhhhhh! HI! :D Now play dumb girl and smile big and talk fast! ;)

They didn't even jack me up, they asked me if I was going to my car? I said "no I'm going in the bar" so cop # 1 says THEN GO! Hey no problem! I was fucking gone! :)

What a way to kill a buzz :mad: I had to go out right away and puff another! Geez that will teach me for not just standing out front where I can see em comming!

Oh they saw me puff it! When I say came around the corner it was like 2 maybe 3 feet! What a dumb ass! I never even go to this bar, the bars I go to we have spots to go out and smoke, it's one thing for them to see ya from a far but when the smoke from your pot filled lungs, is blowing in the face of three cops it makes ya go :eek:

That's cool of them, they probably just didn't want you driving around stoned. One of my friends got caught somewhere in upstate NY, the cop took their licenses and started checking them. Then they go to one of my friends and tell him he has the same name as a murderer in Colorado....my friend said he nearly shit his pants LOL. Possession in the states is usually about a 100 dollar fine and they confiscate.

No, I've been busted before while I was in college, possession in most cases IS a 100 dollar fine, at least for NY state. No permanent charge. Not even on my record. It goes up if your in a school zone, if they think it's intended for sale (bagged up and your carrying a lot of cash). If you're an asshole to the cops they'd probably up the severity of the charge. But me and my friends just told the cops we understood, we were polite and gave up the bag of weed, and they left without hassling us.

It's considered a violation, it's not even a misdeamenor. I've known about 6 folks that have been busted and each of them paid 100 bucks at court and that was it. I'm just speaking from my personal experience. Maybe if I were dressed like a thug or acted like one they would've been harder, but they knew we were all just college kids having a little smoke.

This is gonna sound harsh, but where in New York did you live, because I never heard of a town called "fu*king impossible". you must have found the ONLY reasonable police officer in New york, or been WAY upstate.. cause I lived in New York for years and the police arrested my family for nothing more than a paper and a stem- harrassed the shit out of us just for herb, just a harmless smoke.. Believe me here. They got put all the way through the system.

The American "Drug War" is currently spending billions of dollars every year arresting marijuana smokers/growers/sellers. I'm glad you got lucky, but NY is not like that, certainly not since George Bush showed up.

And just an FYI, Clinton also escalated the drug war, so it's not just Bush, he's done very little in the way of the drug war compared to some past presidents. But he has ruined privacy laws. (besides federal and state laws are different)

Anyways here's the NY state Penal code from the state assembly for 221.00-221.55 which are marijuana offenses.

A person is guilty of unlawful possession of marihuana when he
knowingly and unlawfully possesses marihuana.
Unlawful possession of marihuana is a violation punishable only by a

article 220 of this chapter, committed within the three years
immediately preceding such violation, it shall be punishable (a) only by
a fine of not more than two hundred dollars, if the defendant was

and (b) by a fine of not more than two hundred fifty dollars or a term
of imprisonment not in excess of fifteen days or both, if the defendant
was previously convicted of two such offenses committed during such
period."

I had no prior offenses so 100 dollar fine, and it's a violation. Then there are different degrees, the one cited above is unlawful possession. The next step is criminal possession in the fifth degree, if you're found in public and smoking in plain view it's a class B misdeameanor. In most cases you're afforded the most protection when at home or on your property.

I'm originally from a small town between Binghamton and Syracuse.

I guess I just look like a good kid, I've never gotten in trouble, graduated near the top of my class. I had a teacher give me the answers to a quiz a day before she gave the quiz, I had another teacher point out one of my wrong answers on the Math regents test....while I was taking the class, he just pointed to a question and walked by.

There are several places where you only get a small fine and no record. Most places have diversion programs too, where you attend a class and go on probation for a year and get no record. Take the opportunity if you get it, a record can ruin your life. From

Oregon :
allows 1st time busted people to go into a diversion program and have record cleared after a year probation.


NY:
"Possession of 25 grams or less of marijuana is punishable by a fine of $100 for the first offense. For the second offense, the penalty increases to a $200 fine and for subsequent offenses the fine increases to $250 and a maximum of 15 days in jail time may be imposed. P

GA:
Possession of less than one ounce of marijuana is a misdemeanor and can be punished by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. However, upon a first drug conviction the offender may be placed on probation, and upon successful completion the proceedings against him may be discharged


Maine:
"Possession of less than 1.25 ounces is a civil violation, punishable by a fine of $200 - $400."


Nebraska another state with civil citation (no crim record):

"Possession of one ounce or less of marijuana is an infraction, and the offender receives a citation and is subject to a $100 fine and possible referral to a drug education course for the first offense"



Ohio another state with okay laws, but the catch is you live in ohio (joke)

"Possession of less than 100 grams of marijuana is a citable offense only, with a fine of $100. No criminal record is created by such citation"


Mich:
100 if you get caught smoking, 2000 for possesion (makes no sense?). But diversion available

Alaska
Up to 4 ozs in your home, no penalty, no record.

Yeah Canada pretty much rocks, the cops are never around and when they are they never do anything. They only get really pissed if you run from them. They rarely do anything if they catch you with weed, harshest i have heard of was the cop took it off one of my friends and called took him home. The only way to get seriously busted is to be either carrying a pound on you or have a grow house.
