Smokey- go for the V-Dub, even an older GTI... those things are NASTY for their weight and good on gas for a sports car. I've owned 2 VWs and have been happy with them.

My next vehicle is going to be something rusty with 4wd and a 2" lift. Maybe an '88 Subaru Brat if I get that lucky!!!! :D

I'm lookin for a 62-65 NovaOooh very good choice. I like that body style, when muscle cars were still boxy and mean lookin'.

The STI is a good car, but the 08 model is only offered in a hatchback, if youre into that kinda thing. Also look at the evo X.

I own a 2002 WRX, and it's the best car I've ever had. Everything you've read about and heard people brag about, it's all true, and can't be matched. The Evo is a good car, but as I heard someone say once and liked, when you buy a subaru you're buying a car family. The subaru community is like no other, for real, especially for WRX owners.

To answer this post, the next car will hopefully be a subaru forester 2.5 XT. It's an STI with a forester body, basically. Sexxxxxxy. My partner can keep the WRX if I get this thing!

lol... it's not a FAMILY, it's a CULT. Check out the Australian Subaru enthusiats' websites... I think the Queensland Subaru Club has a good one... I used to have an '88 Subie that was just a fabulous car, on and off road. That little 1800cc horizontally opposed engine gave the smoothest, quietest ride ever!

The Australians have some weird and cool ideas when it comes to Subarus. They make some great parts, our bushings are all made by an Australian tuning company. We're active on the NASIOC.com (North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club) boards right now.

I found the link...
Subaru 4WD Club of Queensland Inc. (http://www.subaclub.com/)
I wish we lived in a place where vintage Subies didn't rust until one day you walk out with your keys expecting to go to work and find nothing but a pile of rust and a very nice engine on the driveway... *sniff
