hey cannabis fans, i have a plan...
this plan is to create a super duper stealth mini cab. my goal here is to make it quiet, efficient and most importantly grow good bud.
I haven't started the build yet. But i want the most input i can get because i know you people can help me accomplish my goal.
i plan on doing a dwc setup growing a c99 hybrid because i love the high of this plant and its VERY low odor

Here are some main items i'm considering using:
-Cabinet dimensions (aprox 36''x34''x17'') i know its small but i need something in this size range
SpaceRite XL Base Cabinet (http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=169300-84396-17185453&lpage=none)

debating on light system. i want a dual spectrum unit but heat is the main issue. someone suggested a 400watt cool tube... but yea... dont know how i'll make that work
Sunlight Supply Spectra Max 246W HPS/T5 Ultimate Grow Light (http://www.hydrofanatics.com/spectra-246w-hpst5-ultimate-grow-light-p-265.html)
(above light looks cool and makes me happy haha)
150 watt HPS grow light 400 600 1000 mh t5 cfl clones - eBay (item 320224414672 end time Mar-06-08 18:41:28 PST) (http://cgi.ebay.com/150-watt-HPS-grow-light-400-600-1000-mh-t5-cfl-clones_W0QQitemZ320224414672QQihZ011QQcategoryZ422 25QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
(this light looks nice if it works, small glass covering looks like it'll heat up... any input?)

then i wanna use these for intake and possibly exhaust vents
dark room vents
Doran | DV-99 8x8" Light Tight Darkroom Louver | PRDV99 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/43104-REG/Doran_PRDV99_DV_99_8x8_Light_Tight.html)
(do these work well for air flow? do they really keep out light?)

so if u read all that. i salute you. NOW GIVE ME YOUR OPINIONS!!!!! or your soul. i'd take either.
peace:thumbsup:

i used an old dresser for the base of my cabinet and it was free!
i bet you could find something similar at a used furniture store,
but if you wanna keep something like that cabinet for stealth i think the only issue you'll have is with the height
36inches is prolly the outer dimension
after room for fans and your light your not gonna have much headroom for your dwc and a plant.
i was able to do it with 43inches but i used scrog and lst to keep the buds away from the light.
and you'll need a good fan for exhaust!!!!

yea i found this pre made dwc kit for like 30 bucks thats 15''x13''x7'' high. they are say they hold 4 gallons of water. i'll figure i'll have 2 of those systems with one plant each. ya 36'' is the outside height. inside its a hair above 34''. i found this high output T5 setup thats only 4'' high. so i'll still have about 2 ft of grow room. not much but it can be done with LST and SCROG. as for ventilation. i found these 120mm quiet computer fans that push out 70cfm. i'll shove 4 of those for exhaust and 2 for circulation. no odor control needed.

THANKS FOR THE INPUT!!!!!
have a wonderful day :hippy:

Hi, I'm new. Could you please tell me where you found your $30 kit?

Thanks!

Hey man what's up? use one of the 6 bulb 2 ft t5 setups from htg supply. get both spectrums. Personally, I'd get a 150 watt hps in the mini floralux they sell, aircool it right out the top. No other exhaust needed. Just a couple passive intakes made from 2-4 inch black pvc with 2 90degree elbows, one in one out for light traps. The fan will put thru the light and exhaust your cab at the same time. use a 4 inch 80cfm duct booster fan from hd, as your 10 cf cab will need no more, especially thru the light. get 4 daylight cfls and mount them as side or supplemental lighting. (optional..but I think you might like the xtra blue for veg.) line it with mylar, seal it and u should be good. I'm on my first real grow, but I've helped build a couple cabs, and have done ALOT of studying before I had at it! PS, I am thinking about a c-99 x blueberry myself. I think Cindy Blue would be a nice strain. Joey's Apollo 11x c-99 looks good too! I have 2 mothers from bagseed, but maybe I'll get some genetics myself! Good Luck!

When I was starting out, I was looking at similar systems on ebay. They are NOT worth it. Order a small bag of hydroton and some net pots along with your nutes (3.5 inch are fine). Go to wally and find containers with lids that fit your space..(bring a tape measure.) containers range from 2 to 10 bucks, usually about 3 for the smaller ones. buy one 30-60 gallon dual outlet air pump for 10.87, 2 airstones that fit the containers you bought. (about 1-3 dollars each) Use one pump per bucket in flower, 2 stones per each. IF YOU MUST, you can run one stone per bucket, but more bubbles are better. Those setups that were 30$, were they from ebay? Was the shipping 20$ too? I usually found they were abut 50$ apiece shipped for suitable small ones. I find if you build them, you can buy xtra buckets and get your nutes stup and to temp (I need to heat mine because I fill from a hose in my basement I tapped into the pipe!!) That way just lift the lid, swap the lid and stones and GO! Also, the stones from walwart stay down pretty good, I dont glue mine so they can be cleaned better! By the way, the buckets need to be taped with black duct tape (2 layers at least), gorilla tape, ar painted black. Foil tape works well too, just make sure you get all the seams. Check out my setup to see what I built....http://boards.cannabis.com/closet-cabinet-growing/152713-starting-off-bagseed.html#post1833858

Hi there,

Cool I want to help you, in fact I want to do the same thing. It appears 36" is par for the course when it comes to storage sheds. The Container Store had nothing and Rubbermaid makes something but again, only 36". What we need is another foot.

hey guys sorry about the hiatus. work stuff has been hectic. but due to a skateboarding injury im back on here! looks like you guys have been giving some helpful feedback

yes the DWC kits were on ebay. i just liked them because of their relatively shallow dimensions and already black exterior. but i'll probably end up building my own

the strain i have been looking at is in fact Joey Weed's apollo 11xC99 gotta love that stuff.

and as for the lights i am still in a pickle. i know i can cool a 150 watt hps, but im not sure if it'll provide enough light dispersion over the 3 square feet of space. particularly im concerned with the light reaching the far ends of the almost 3ft x 1.5ft of floor space. i am looking into T5 side lighting to put next to the HPS.

thanks guys and happy growing!

ok i have a question on the 80cfm duct fan.
is it quiet? the ones i have seen at hardcward stores are super noisy.
and i'm not sure how i could mount it without giving up anymore vertical space. input or insight into this matter would help!
my main goal in the setup is STEALTH!!! noise is a biggie. i am currently setting up a salt water aquarium. but i dont want to be able to here the noise of a duct fan coming from my closet. LOL

thanks again for the great ideas!!!

catch 22. Those duct fans are pretty quiet compared to my 172 cfm inline vortex type fan. Closets are too big to be vented with computer fans, and they are just as loud anyways. There are no such things as silent fans, quiet...yes. But, silent....no. insulate the closet if you can, especially the door. if you have a computer, leave it on in there to help explain a fan noise.

I was wondering how loud those inline vortex fans were compared to a duct booster.. i'll assume you have a 4'' since it's 172cfm, but how powerful is it? some of those duct boosters claim even higher cfm but I can't see how...
