To make a long story short i was arrested for possesion of 70-something grams, intent to sell, paraphenalia and possible cultivation charges. 2 possible felons maybe more. Yes, I have a lawyer and he said nothing is really guarenteed, he may be able to get some charges decreased/dismissed but I might be facing jail time. Basically what i'd like to know is if anyone has been in a similiar situation and what their outcome was. I am from CT, 20 y.o. college student, never been arrested or in any trouble with the law if this helps.

We'll I can tell you i've never been in nearly that much legal trouble involving marijuana, but had my fair share of trouble with the law. I dont think you'll be looking at any jail time unless you are convicted of the 2 cultivation charges along with the other charges. Listen to your lawyer, because nobody can be 100% sure what the outcome is going to be, but if you havent already, look into connecticuit MJ laws. I apologize for the borderline informationless post, but wish you the best of luck with you're legal trouble.

Here is a link to NORML.
You will find the Connecticut cannabis laws there, and hopefully some local support.

Sorry to hear about your situation. My opinion is it's always best not to have large amounts(according to the courts) of marijuana in possesion

A friend of mine was caught about 4 year ago on similar charges he was stopped with 83g of quality weed and they searched his house and found 4 plants that were a good size.He was charged with production of canibus and intent to sell but he managed to get his solicitor to make a deal and said it was for his own consumption. He walked out of court with a £150 fine and had to sign a disclaimer to allow the law to keep his lighting etc.He had 1 400w hps which is not expensive and a load of tin foil on the walls so he got a good result i think you should speak to your solicitor about some kind of deal like my friend got.Whatever you do stick to the story it was for personal use only as they cannot punish you heavely on personal but can jail you for intent.Good luck and keep us posted on the outcome.

Being in good standing at school and never having had legal trouble are BOTH in your favor. Your attorney should be able to suggest to the DA a 'continued without finding' which means you agree that the State has enough evidence for a conviction, but that you basically don't pose a further risk. You would be put on probation for a set period, and if you have no further troubles during that time, the DA will agree to drop the charges.

Read the information that Psteve posted for information specific to your state.

I've removed a post linking to an off-site resource for review by admin. Please contact site administration if you are interested in advertising services, thanks. Linking to a site whose homepage includes 'Making sure that the dude will be chill in the afterlife and communing with his homies' does NOT sound like a legitimate way to beat a real legal charge... I don't particularly see this as a responsible thing to suggest to someone who is facing the possibility of jail time...

ignore that........dfd

If you have no prior convictions you should be able to plea for some sort of First Offender's program with a year of probation maybe two, supervised or unsupervised, depends on the deal they give you. Now as far as charges you have a misdeameanor possession, a felony for intent to sell, a felony for cultivation, exactly how many plants did you have? A felony for having a dwelling to sell marijuana, regardless of these felonies because I had the exact same thing happen to me you can it dismissed or expunged. In your case it matters how much evidence they have againest you. Did they search your house without a warrant? Reasonable suspicion and probable cause are not enough for a warrant; a warrant must be issued by a court of law before hand. Now did you try to get rid of any evidence that also could be another felony also did you sign a "Consent Form," for the search?

Sorry to hear your troubles....but to be honest I would tell you to get a new lawyer. No way would I ever hire a lawyer you would tell I'd might do jail time. I have been caught twice, once with 105grams, and once with 56 grams, neither time did I spend time. If you have to its always worth more money to get a better lawyer. Money talks always and always will. You need to tell the lawyer what to do and what u want, there are plenty of drug classes u could attend that dont even drug test, just show up once or twice a week, smoke before u go, and just zone out....that always looks good to a judge....do not accept any jailtime for this!!!
