hey these plants are one month old , they were started on the first of feb, its time to transplant i know but can you guys give me some input as to how they look, are they average size for being 4 weeks old, do they look healthy? what kind of food should i give them? 20-20-20 ? and is it too early to start feeding them,, they are just under four 4ft flouro's, 2 cool white bulbs and 2 daylight bulbs, lights are on 24/0 and the seeds were just from a bag of hydro i got (ounce) and one of the buds had a few seeds into it, i started with 15 plants and this is what i have left , they are all female and the hairs that came out on them were pink not white?is this a good thing or a bad thing?

They are good to start fertilizing.
Out of those two, I would use the 20-20-20 but go VERY light, like 1/4 of what the bottle says.

You'll see a difference in them after a couple of days.. Just use a 1/4 Tablespoon measuring spoon. Nice plants!

o.k. i used a 1/4 table spoon of the 20-20-20 to a liter of water, i equaled the liter of water over the 7 plants, not too much water and not too little, i was using the liter dish right from the start and only watering every 2 or 3 days, soil stays pretty dry actually but seems to be working fine, the plants take a good jump after each watering it seems, i also have a ? about misting my plants with just plain water, will this help them any?, seems to me it would give them more of an "outdoor" feeling as maybe they would just think it's rain, also they take water in through their roots and leaves so this might help them out alot, should i be misting them, and if so how many times a day? 3-4?

Use a gallon to mix the 1/4 strength solution......

With a 1/4 tablespoon per liter of water is full strength...If you are using HID lighting then the misting would cause more problems. The dropplets on the leaf is like a magnifiying glass. It can blister the leaf tissue. The stomata is where the plant can breathe. They do absorb water through the leaves...If the air is very dry then you would be fine.It would evaporate before doing any damgage..Like in an area such as arizona..

my room is around 30 degrees c and the humitidy stays around 38-40, i'm using four 4ft flouresents with 2 cool white bulbs and 2 daylight bulbs, have good ventalation, with a 12 inch fan blowing 24h a day, will misting hurt in these conditions?

Once or twice a week would do fine...But,very lightly. If your gonna mist them. You should go ahead and use neem oil at an early stage. You assure yourself not to have mites..

If roots are growing out the bottom of the pot its def. time to transplant. They definately look ready, the rule of thumb is to have a gallon of soil for every inch of plant height. When do you think you'll start flowering?

Neem oil is an extract from the neem tree. It is armour for your plants. When used with protek,an emulsifier.. It will break the reproduction cycle of the spider mite.If they can't feed then they die.

Lookin good daisley!
I would definately think of a repot if you plan on doing one, Seems better to do it before you are too far along in flowering.
Keep up the good work:thumbsup:

Do you know whether,or not they are female?
ya they are female, i started off with 15 seeds at the first of feb, and about a week ago they started to show sexing, i ended up with seven good females(with pink hairs/pistols instead of white), so i'm pretty good to go for a fair amount of bud, i have a 1000w hps to flower them under, trying to get a good size out of the 7 females before i start to flower as space is not an issue for me.i was also thinking on doing that"screen" thing with them as well, is it too late to do the scrog???? and how do i go about doing it?
GaGrown
03-02-2008, 06:52 PM
No it's not too late... Just place a frame with a screen on it over the gurls. I would pinch the tops out of them.Right ay the top node. Then again, when they get over the first topping.. You want alot of budsites when scrogging..

i was just wondering if in my fourth picture if this is what you mean by topping the plant, i did this about a week ago, maybe i pinched a little too hard did i?and if i do use the scrog, should i tie my plants down so they are more horizontaly than straight up?maybe on a 30* angle? so that way the branches grow more up through the screen?

i was also wondring how big should the mesh be on the screen

hi daisley, nice plants by the way. I have yet to start my grow but i also am looking into doing a scrog and most of the people on here seem to be using 2x2 inch mesh. I was at lowes the other day looking around at supplies and they have a roll of 2x2 plastic mesh that would be perfect. good luck with your plants!

03-02-2008, 10:04 PM
That is exactly it! The screen should be 1x1 or 2x2 chicken wire. Make a frame and let them grow up into it. You can pinch the side shoots too.. In moderation, maybe a couple of days later. You'll see what I mean, when you start the scrog.

You mix it with pro-tek just like the label says..... spray the plants, under the leaves and the whole plant... You can even spray the soil... When you go to your garden center tell them your azaleas have spider mites. The less you converse the better you will be! You can get both of these at New England Hydroponics..

You could top them in another day. Just bend them when you put your screen over them...

the quickest and easiest way to top is grab the very tip of the growth and push it sideways once you get so far it will just pop off alot less stressfull then pinching the top which crushed plant tissue. pluss its safer then cutting the tops out cuase if you slip while cutting you could either cut yourself or cut the plants where you didn't want to cuaseing some serious damage to your plants

im thinkingon just pinching the top node, do i pinch it right off the plant or just pinch it very hard? in my pic of the one i already topped i usd a razor blade from my carpentry knike and just cut the top right off the plant.

The plants will do great with anything LESS than six hours of dark.
Your HID ballasts need a couple hours of rest though (if you're using HID), so most folks use 20/4 or 18/6.

In your main pic with your two outdoor plants where are you growing them? Somebody's private property, public property or your property? Also do you transport the water there or do you let nature takes its course. Is that area fenced off, do you have any problems with animals?

What strain did you use and at what height did you transplant it outdoors. What feed did you use and at what stages did you use it, how much per sq. ft?
