dont overwater, use proper size pots and then plant directally into the ground.. tell nobaudy and grow tomato plants and shit around them, you will get some killer bud off the AK i think i have grown it b4

dylan

I don't think they are getting enough light. They are stretching towards the light source, and that is why you are getting long weak stems.

If you prop a broken stem up it will heal.

What kind of light are they getting?

Surfnbird
03-03-2008, 04:43 PM
right know im just useing 2 50 watt bulbs since im trying to get them strong enough to plant outside in late april early may.

03-03-2008, 04:50 PM
You need much more light. What KIND of bulbs? You gotta use flouros, not incandescents.

Surfnbird
03-03-2008, 04:55 PM
ok i just took a zoomed out shot so you can kinda see what im working with and more light check ill try and go by a flouros, not incandescents and whats the diffrence.

yes because if you tell someone they will get all jealous and go take it lol i only told 2 people about my last years grow (and thats because i smoked a blunt) i got all stoned and didnt care, was a $50 mistake and i learned my lesson !

What KIND of bulbs? . as for what kinda bulbs im useing i just got the cheap whitelight bulbs

daihashi
03-03-2008, 06:23 PM
I think they meant CFL or incandescent.

Though Soft White does help in letting us know the color spectrum, but we really need to know what type of bulb you're using, not the color of it.

Are you using CFL or Regular incandescent?

Surfnbird
03-03-2008, 06:42 PM
ok ok ok. yea there just incandescent lights

ok i just took a zoomed out shot so you can kinda see what im working with and more light check ill try and go by a flouros, not incandescents and whats the diffrence.
the difference is the lumen output which is far greater in cfls

foxysox
03-03-2008, 07:01 PM
Incandescents USE more electricity and GIVE OFF more heat than CFLs and are also in the wrong wavelength primarily... CFLs are much better!

03-03-2008, 07:07 PM
ight looks like ill have to drive down to lowes and buy me some then

Surfnbird
03-03-2008, 07:23 PM
o yeah i just remebered a saying my mom mentioned to me it went like if theres thunder in january then theres frust in june/july cant remeber which know i live in IL and we had thunder in january so if we do have a frost in june/july will it hurt my plants realy bad or just a little also whats the best way to protect them if we do?

dylan
03-03-2008, 09:39 PM
Well, ya, get some better lights....as for the frost....June/July, WOW I live in TN, so I'll maybe see one as late as April. We only had about 2-3 frosts this winter, so I may not be the best to answer that. For me as long as it's mild the plants should be ok, although some strains take it better than others. If you cover them they should be ok though.

Surfnbird
03-03-2008, 09:59 PM
yea ight cool and the last frost is usely in april but idk this year since my mom got it from her mom so i figured it was true.

Surfnbird
03-03-2008, 10:28 PM
ok i got some cfl's but i still only have 2 of em so right know i got 1200 lumes the plants are about that far from the lights is that to close?

smokealot123
03-04-2008, 04:03 AM
have no idea about that but ill be verry interested to see what happens to the strawberry plant ! nice

Surfnbird
03-04-2008, 04:34 AM

Surfnbird
03-04-2008, 04:57 PM

Surfnbird
03-04-2008, 05:21 PM
these are the plants that have sprouted on day 6 or 7

Surfnbird
03-04-2008, 11:21 PM
hey stincky you said i needed more lights. so i went looking in the garage and this is what i found and the yellow one is a flouresint and the desk lamp i put a cfl in and the big one idk its just a regular light for outdoors kinda like a spot light for yard things like a light you would use to put on a american flag at night so do you think i need more or am i good cuz i think im good,

wman44
03-04-2008, 11:39 PM
that spot light is gonna get hot fast and the shop light is gonna be pretty useless unless your working on a car.
you really should invest in some more cfl's
but with 50 seeds you might wanna get a few t-5 florescent tubes, that way you can light all of the seedlings with one fixture

Surfnbird
03-05-2008, 12:02 AM
yea i ended up not using the spot light and you im geting ready to move this operation out of my room and into the basement were i can get a better set up going and yes i thought about investing in some bigger flourisent tubes like they got at office building and stuff.

wman44
03-05-2008, 12:05 AM
seems like your on the right track then
good luck and happy growing

Surfnbird
03-05-2008, 12:11 AM
thx and i hope i have a good first year cuz i figure this will make me either be like hell yea growing is the best or wow all this hard work and i didnt enjoy myself but hey i am enjoying myself and i mean it is fun and i cant do to bad cuz i got farming in my blood.

Surfnbird
03-05-2008, 12:40 AM
ok now i know that this years outdoor grow season is just geting started but i was woundering wheres the best place to buy seeds? and also what are realy good strains? im only asking since theres so many strains knowing me it take me a while to narrow it down.

Surfnbird
03-05-2008, 03:21 PM
alright everythings looking good right know im geting ready to clean up my basement and get it ready for the move ill also be going to lowes and looking at some better lights since what i have is not enough for all 53 plants. also today two more ak plants sprouted.

dylan
03-06-2008, 02:24 AM
Well, they're comming along nicely, but when are you going to be able to put them outdoors?

I would be wanting to put them out soon; unless the temps are too low, and concidering you had snow not that long ago that may be the case. As they are getting bigger though, they will be needing alot more light.

Good luck

Surfnbird
03-06-2008, 03:53 AM
yea im thinking late april or early may cuz i mean were geting some weird weather cuz yes yesterday i got alot of snow and the day befor that i was out laying in my hamock in cool summers breez so im not quite sure but today i went to lowes and started working on my new grow area in my basement im not sure if its to cold tho since my temp down there is right at 70 to 71 degress and i know have plenty of light for all my plants i can actualy fit all 53 under them now and i have about 10600 lumes. and yes some of those arent mj plants i have some snap dragons and marigold and i have some mixed seeds i think there like prarie flowers not sure.

quick question is there something wrong is the leaves kinda get bent out of shape like idk how to describe it. its like the leaves just twisted a bit i've seen people ask this in there own grow logs but i cant remeber what the answers were to them

Surfnbird
03-07-2008, 05:58 AM
ok first day after the big move most plants are looking fine although as i said some of the leaves are twisted a bit not sure if thats anything to worry about also im not sure if its because i got to much light or the soild used but some of my smaller ones the leaves were dryed out willted and brown around the edges. this will be the last post for the weekend since im going to springfield, missouri tommorrow morning hopefully my babies dont die will im gone. since noone will be here to watch them im guessing water them good befor i leave tommorow and they should be fine.

marijuanavillebilly
03-07-2008, 07:41 AM
the leaves are going to bend an twist to find the optimul light source, it hink this "could" be the answer.

also there is no such thing as too much light, its just impossble.

but i would invest in some reflective material instead of that plastic cover.
like mylar or a flat white synthetic plastic sheet you could cut to size.

and your plants look great. but you need to figure out how to get the plants long stem into the dirt, I.E. bigger pot. just bury them up to the beans (little round leaves) and its all good.

just my :twocents:

ok just got back from my little trip the plants realy shot up while i was gone and there all looking great one plant sprouted while i was gone also. there was only one plant that didnt look to healthy and it was because the two little leaves it first gets when its sprouts the penute ones are brown/yellow no green at all not sure why tho seeing as the rest look wonderfull.

Surfnbird
03-12-2008, 09:24 PM
alright there all doing fine no new ones have sprouted not sure if its because they are takeing longer than the rest or that there just bad seeds also i was woundering if anyone had any tips on makeing the stems stronger i have on plant already that the stem cant hold the weigh of the leaves. first pic is my oldest and healthiest plant second is of the problem stem(most i think are going to be the same way)

smokealot123
03-12-2008, 09:49 PM
just get a nice good breese going on them (any fan that dont blow the plant over) and you can roughen them up a little by bending the stems (i would not pinch the stems at that stage) because it might result in the plant not recovering as it is in a weak stage "vegging".. when it grows up a little bit then is the time to pinch the stems to make it grow stronger.. there might be a couple other techniques to makeing the plant stronger that i havent listed:jointsmile:thats going to be a sick grow !

Surfnbird
03-15-2008, 12:18 AM
ok so i played around a bit and did some lst and i think it worked out preaty good also the other to pics are the oldest and healthiest and the next pic is the one with the week steam.

03-15-2008, 06:26 PM
ok so today i moved some of my plants outside didnt use much store bought soil seeing as the soil there was nice and rich real black with lots of worms always signs of good soil.

dylan
03-15-2008, 10:31 PM
Ah, looks nice. Do you have any fertalizer on them yet? They will probably want some soon.

Also, will you be able to cover them if you get a cold spell?

Surfnbird
03-15-2008, 10:42 PM
yep i got some plastic tarp that i can cover them up with. and nope no fert's at the moment although im gonna mix in some coffe grinds with the soil.

03-17-2008, 09:29 PM
ok so today it rained preaty hard and we had some strong wind so i went to check on my plants and it didnt look to good im not sure if its because of the rain and wind or if its cuz its been chilli the last couple days kinda in the 50 and 40 but all the leaves were droopy and torn some of the plants were leaning over but they were all green no brown leaves so i know there not dieing but im thinking most of the damage was from the wind and rain if any outdoor grower has seen the same happen to his when it rained let me know also i put a clear plastic tarp over them to kinda make a bi-dome so they should be find the next time it rains and we have a strong wind.

last summer I had an outdoor plant that was for an experement
and she did ok/good. and last year in texas it rained off and on for the longest time. but she did still have some good sunny days also.

now for the hopefuly and helpful info from my own experement.

becuz of the rain I had to build a clear plastic cover for her.
I put some chicken wire around her with thick clear plastic covering the wire. and I left about 2-3 inched of free open space so she wouldn't get too humid and that worked out well.

and the greenhouse cage I made was 2 feet wide and around
4 feet tall so she could have room to grow.

and I made it so that it could easly be taken off for thouse good sunny days.

ok so I hope I helped even a little bit and if not well then at least I tryed.
and any info I give here is eather from my own experements of growing the medical herbs or from what other growers on here have told me to try on me plants.:D

and all I could find for pix is of her with out the plastic cover over her.

Your plants should be fine Surfnbird. Cannabis is pretty hardy.

A few years back....the year of hurricane Elvis I think, or was it Dennis..... any way, my plants got hit hard. They were a few feet tall at the time, but they had torn leaves, broken branches, and were covered with mud. The creek near by overflowed on them and pulled them all horizontal and almost buried them in mud. I just lifted them up, washed them off, and let them recover.
