hey guys,

this will be my first grow, and i have been reading alot on here the past few weeks and have decided what i want equipment wise, just need some input. First off i have an 4x2x8 foot Closet with a regular style door. I plan on building some shelves in there and setting up 2 to 3 sections , one for flowering, one for veg and maybe 1 for a mother plant, not sure if i will have room for all 3. i want to do 4 to 6 plants and was not sure if i should cut the space down to 2x2 and just go with a 250 hps, or if i leave it at 2x4 will the 400 be enough? Also i was not sure whether i should go for the 250 MH or do CFL for Veg. I plan on doing a vent into the attic using either a vortex fan or a quite fart fan if i can find one, of course with a carbon scrubber attached. I am also unsure if i should just LST them would be the best option for a beginner, or the best way to maximize the space. any information is appriciated.

if you can afford it the mh will be better for veg, you'll see faster growth and tighter nodes, which will help if your not planning on growing trees.
as far as grow style is concerned you cant really go wrong with lst but if you wanna take it a step farther scrog is the way to go for small spaces.
in the 2x4 area a 400 watt light will give you 50watts per sq foot, that should do you just fine. for a 2x2 area the 250 will do the trick and then some. remember watts=lumens=dense heavy buds
either way with the vortex fan you shouldn't have too many problems with ventilation.
have you thought about what your gonna do for intake air?

I was thinking just a passive intake at the base of the door, i am not sure what size they should be but i was thinking two 3" to 4" holes. I want it to be pretty quite, or as quiet as i can get. I figure by mounting the vortex fan in the attic i can keep the sound down, but now that i think of it i am not sure if it could survive the summer in the attic, its gets really hot here. Another thing is i am not sure how tall i should make my flower chamber. i know the Hps needs to be around 18" from the plants and the ballast is about 10 inches tall, it sounds like i am going to be limited in space so maybe Scrog would be best for me after all. i will have to do some more reading about that technique. thanks for the input wman44.
