Just got a T5 and I have a few new girls. They are about a foot tall, just topped... the T5 should be right on these ladies correct?
The meter have has a 500 and 5000 setting, and I'm getting 35 (10X) so 350 light candles out of 500. Is this enough light for these babies?
I'm also getting forty more babies tomorrow, small ones.
The T5 I have has four lights in it... is this enough to cover all the babies? What type of light candel intensity am I looking for? I figured I would leave them under the t5 for a week and then pop my 1000 watter for them. Would this work fine?
Experienced grower, but don't know jack shit about t5's. Thanks in advance.

Oops, I meant food candles - sorry.
I have the small one... it's like 2 feet long by 1 foot wide. It's by New Wave
I guess this is one of the smaller ones. Perhaps I need a bigger one? This thing can't facilitate 50 babies, though they told me at the store it would.

Hey Razza,
Find out what type tubes your using and how many lumens they produce. Foot candles add up to lumens. Normally the amount of light is suggested lumen output.

Get the light really close to the canopy, and keep the canopy continuous by putting them close together. Foot-tall plants are kinda big for flouros but if your goal is to ultimately put them under a halide or sodium light, then fine. The smaller plants will be better suited to that fixture.

T5's are fabulous. I use them for cuttings, moms and vegging. Unlike t12's you can't put the T5's as close. Your plants can grow into T12s without burn. The
t5s put out much higher intensity than reg. flouros. Put a light meter 1 foot below bulb and you'll see 10,000FC. A regular flouro will put out about 2000FC at that distance.

I've been using the T5's and they definitely get warm. I'm having a hard time keeping a 4'X4'X8' room cool with 16 4 foot T5's going on 12/12.

I haven't used T5s but I used CFL and grew 2.5/3ft plants under 25k lumens.

Check out the spectral distributions of those T5 bulbs. They are improving the Purple and Red bulbs right noww, the red will be more towards the 660 range and the purple will emit less green and more blue and red.

Well, you've got 880 watts. How are you cooling the area?

I've got a fresh air vent low with a small fan and 2 exhaust vents high. Right know I have to leave the door open and I have a large fan blowing into the room.

I use the 4ft 8 bulb T5 for a grow. With 5 Hashberry under them, I hardly have enough light. I had to add 2 single 4' T5's for the sides and that didn't quite cut it either. Like StinkyAttic recommends, I have a very thick canopy and have to turn the plants daily to ensure adequate light coverage. They are 4 weeks into flower but boy is it a struggle with the T5's. Now for veg, they were awesome. Make sure you use the 6500's for veg and 3000 mixed with 6500 for flower. I am using 6 3000 and 4 6500 for flower. This is my first T5 grow. I will keep everyone posted.

Of course flowering is going to be hard if you don't have enough lumens. You have max 50,000 lumens for 5 plants not to mention and oddly shaped light that has a rectangular array. I would grow at max 2 plants under one t5 8 lamp fixture. I am ordering 2-3 8 bulb fixtures for a 4x4 4 strain scrog soon. I am going to use Nlite bulbs most likely to maximize the amount of usable light, also you can get a better spectrum, closer to the absorption spectrum of cannabis, than with HID. That's not an opinion, thats going off spectral distribution.

Are you serious? Only 2 plants under a 4ft 8 bulb T5HO with 2 additional side lights? That should be about 50000 lumens. I know that 5 plants is pushing it and something I won't do again but I should be able to squeak this grow out for 1 more month.

My 16 lamp 4 feet T5 is really too much for the 3 plants I'm growing now. The plants seem to be loving it but my next grow I will probably try 6 plants. It only costs me $9 a month to run the whole grow room.

5,000 lumens per cubic feet is a good recommended amount of light. 2 plants that are 2x2x2 is 16 cubic feet. Thats 80,000 lumens. So yes 2 plants for a single 8 lamp setup.
